An OCD Guide to Book Order

Let me know tips on how you display?
Hi, I organise my PDFs according to the Traveller Spine Codes | Mongoose with extra subfolders for Session Zero and Third Party stuff.

I actually organise, (and dynamically re-organise), the physical books according to either long term Storage Space, or short term Troupe + adventurer Skill, Aspirations and personal notes, as I use both Mongoose and non-Mongoose Sci-Fi (Science, Fiction, Survival) publications.

I also "organise" my Mongoose wishlists according to Campaign theme, meaning I have unpurchased sourcebooks+adventures+relevant JTAS+relevant other sourcebook all in the same Wishlist, and different Wishlists for different "potential" campaigns.

If you want an accurate release date/SKU cornucopia, then you won't do better than invest in the recently published A System History of Traveller - if you haven't already done so, that is.

And there is a thread with all the spine codes.

You probably wouldn't like my bookshelf! My Traveller books (Mongoose, T5, and some of my CT stuff) are over two shelves, on two different bookcases in a "sort of, this kind of makes sense" order. I've never really planned an order for them beyond that!

What gets used frequently.
Everything else in a random stack.
A chaos based 3-D filing system is the perfect method of hiding anything in plain sight.
Any sane person is afraid to touch it, for good reason.
As long as nothing has been moved, the user can immediately extract anything from the pile.
Which simply justifies to the boss that their demands that a neat desk is a productive desk is utter bunk.

I sort them by prefixing the file-name with the product-code which is a pretty bad way to do it. Sometimes it clusters books together into useful clusters and sometimes it doesn't. The only thing it has going for it is that it would be a lot of work to fix it so I've stopped worrying about it and given up.

As far as PDFs, I rename everything with “Version - Title - Note” for instance:
MgT 2e Core Rules
MgT 2e Core Rules 2022

As far as physical books, the main shelf is chest level and is the active stuff. Below that is stuff I haven’t done anything with in a while (farther down is lesser used) and above that is the stuff I haven’t really gotten into yet.
