Ok I ran a quick search and didn't see anything about this so. Anyone tried converting the old Stardrive setting to use Traveller's mechanics?

WotC revisited the setting (in a "drive by" fashion) under D20Modern/Future, so it isn't even all that "old" anymore.
Shouldn't be too hard, really. The setting is already Traveller with a little more Star Wars mixed in than usual. The racial descriptors in the MGT core book cover most of what you need for the races of the setting, and the tech progression rules were such a trainwreck that Traveller can only be an improvement.

I seem to remember an article in the Dragon magazine
about conversions from Alternity to Traveller (or in the
other direction ?), but I have no idea whether this is
real and where one could find it.

I love the Alternity mechanics but I find the starship design rules to be a mess what with the rules in the GMG/Starships using one set of design and combat rules while Warships uses a different set. So I'm planning to try using Traveller (in full or as the core of a ship rewrite).
