Aircraft

Why are we discussing the merits of the nebelwerfer in a thread marked up as aircraft :)

yeah talking about over powered getting back to aircraft how about a P47 that can drop both of it's 1000 pound bombs D10+2, LZ 6",multihit, and straffe everything in it's front arc all in the same pass.

what some gamers dont realize is the amount of damage these types of weapons can really do. I think this game does reflect the type of devestation these weapons will do if they hit something.

it does take a little getting used to seeing your nicely painted squads evaporate when one of these weapons scores a direct hit on one of them but war is hell after all.

I was under the impression you could do one or the other as shoot (bomb) and shoot (strafe) are two seperate actions, but are all under the Shoot (X) action, so I'm not sure. Also if doing both actions is to powerful then maybe you can't?

Quote from the rulebook page 30:
"...whether this is through bombing, strafing or
dogfighting."

It is either a
- Shoot (bomb) or
- Shoot (strafe) or
- Shoot (dogdfight)
action, but not all of them together.

if you look in S&P 58 they gave the P47 multifire all trait so it is able to drop all of it's ordinance in one pass

Nope; S&P 58 says:
Options: The P-47 may be given one 500 lb. bomb for +40 points. It may also be given six M8 rockets for +30 points, 10 HVARs for +220 points or two 1,000 lb. bombs for +125 points. All ordnance may be dropped in a single Shoot (Bomb) action.

You still have to choose if you want to strafe or to bomb... 8)

If you choose to strafe you can shoot (because of the Multifire/All trait) with all eight Browning .50 MGs.
Still bad enough but not as bad as described...

Seems I have been doing it wrong all this time.

At least I get to bring my P-47 back now, since it is all balanced again.

I think it's a little funny when someone uses a historical anecdote like that to support their point of view, then dismiss someone else's historic anecdote with "It's a game, not a simulation". Let's make up our minds. :)

If we're being historical, I want observers for artillery. If it's just a game, I think we should balance the werfer in relation to its points cost and/or the other artillery units available to other armies... or balance the artillery rule all together.
