Aging Rules

Dear All,

Has anyone else noted the lack of ageing rules in MRQ? RQ3 certainly had rules for such.

In MRQ it's impossible to generate an older PC (i.e. over 30 ish), except by fudging. Nor, can one age a character in the course of long-term game play.

Personally I could simply use the RQ3 mechanics, as I have them, but this oversight might be an area to be addressed in upcoming future books for those who haven't.

Regards

Personally, I wouldn't use Ageing rules at all.

When we first started using RQ3, our players revolted over Ageing. Their rationale was "We are Heroes!" and they didn't want to be sickly, ageing people.

After all, 'tis only a game.

Dear All,

They might not like it but it does happen to everyone... well nearly everyone.

To be honest, it's of far greater use in a more "realistic" or "gritty" setting, when it can be used for creating those "advanced in years" characters - who generally tend to be scholars or magician types.

Our group loved the aging rules of RQ3.

We played for a looong time, about 15 years real time, and we had characters who aged about 30 years into their 50s. They retired and gave their stuff to their kids.

It was interesting having starting characters with advanced magic items. :)
