of the benifit of the guys that dont go on Evo Command ill repost my reply here
i saw 'em
been a bit busy so i haven't gotten time to reply (gaming club, uni and getting a 'job' in the army commitments
)
good points, for a bit of back ground i did the 4RAR card before the SAS one when the MEA Fedayeen where released, then i did the SASR card.... then the actual British SAS and USMC force recon cards came out, so i changed the SASR + 4RAR card once i got the rules....
Basicly your right, 4RAR and the SASR are simlar, however 4RAR are actauly better front line assault troops. (please don't ask me why i know
) however due to superior selection (SAS selction is harder and longer) and training (more Recce focused and again, a hell of a lot longer), the SASR would best them in any other area especially when it comes to sneaking around and intel gathering....
so to translate that into the game i decided to model 4RAR blokes off the Fedayeen 's example of Spec Ops with the SASR going off the SAS\Force Recon model.... Therefore Commandos therefore get C4 and a way around suppression* and elite training to give them survivability in cover, the SASR get Infiltrate, Stealthy, Eltite training (with a bonus in combat) and a lot more firepower in there squads. I feel that this gives both units a distinctive flavour, if you want elite troops that will get stuck in and fight better than average troops (not that the Australian infantry corps is average
) and blow %*#@ up, get 4RAR, if you want sneaky, elite infiltration get the SASR.
*im going to change the Fearless rule for them, they are only going to ignore the 1st suppression result each turn, like what we have been hearing in the rumours about the FFL, after all there not as insane as the Fedayeen
will do
yep, the SR-25 should be simalr to the dragunov, ill change that. Most of the time the SASR use M4s + F89s (on normal patrol anyway)... well from what i can see and read anyway
so ill keep them as is, however you can swap out F-89 for the SR-25 for a bit of sniper fun and when i get my paws on a sniper card from anouther faction, you can bet money on a SASR sniper with a SR-98 or AW50F
I would make the SASR different from the ETFT SAS... but there very simlar as far as Evo is concerned
4RAR differ from Fedayeen with there use of Land 125, fireteams and weaponry
thanks heaps for the feedback

Gibbs said:Hey Chiwie, did you see my ideas on the mongoose forum just as suggestions for diversifying the SASR and 4RAR? I'll post it again here it's just a matter of a copy and paste. It also has my reasons why I've suggested what I've suggested.
i saw 'em

Gibbs said:One thing, atm 4RAR seem better than the SASR because of their C4 and immunity to suppression. It might be worth noting that the SASR have the same training as 4RAR it just goes beyond what 4RAR have. Although that would lead to a major points blowout.

Gibbs said:Also when you do get to fixing rifle stats, just for reference sake, the SVU can be fired as a reaction and can target any visible target in the fire zone if a ready action was taken before hand.
will do

Gibbs said:I just had a thought about distinguishing the 4RAR to the SASR. The SASR are in reality a reconnaissance and specialised strike force, a lot of them are snipers (so several sites suggest although I don't like using Wikipedia, they do make the distinction between SASR and 4RAR very clearly).
I'd almost be tempted to change the SASR to all be equipped with SR-25s except one member who has an M4 with M203 and another with a Para or FN Minimi MG (per fire team) and at a later date something to call down artillery/air strike. Then you'd truly have the ghosts of the jungle, a force that can shoot/call in an air strike and then disappear without a trace, like the SASR are supposed to. Are you thinking about updating the SR-25s to be similar to the dragunovs? Could you imagine taking two shoot actions with all your weapons and then not being able to shoot back because you are out of the 20" range for drawing LOS. Ouch!
