Additional limbs/Augments

Hi everyone

One of my players is playing an imperial-raised Aslan with a Prehensile Tail augment from the Aslan book. This is rather brief in description and only really says that it can be used as a third limb, and gives an extra minor action per combat round if it can be done with the tail. It costs Cr5000 but says nothing about if this is a natural-looking implant (the non-prehensile one is described as a decorative thing, which implies it looks natural but does nothing unless it's the prehensile version) or it's strength/dex - I presume it uses the same as the player's base stats?

Since we're using the new 2e rules, I'm thinking of swapping it for the Additional Manipulator augment, which is better-written rules-wise. It's more expensive at Cr7500 and described in a way that gives the impression it will not look natural (it's a segmented tentacle-like appendage) but can be collapsed to 20cm or extended to 1m.

I'm thinking this could be used as a basis for the tail... maybe adding the "natural looking" option at extra cost.

However doing this would effectively make the tail nearly double the cost of the original tail implant (I know some things have seriously changed cost-wise from 1e to 2e), and the descriptions say nothing about getting any extra actions - in fact even looking at the old rulebook at hivers who have multiple limbs they don't seem to get any extra actions as a result. I don't know how the new rules handle multiple limbs as they seem to have removed most of the alien races that came with the previous rules, which I find a bit disappointing as I now find myself inclined to not use those races until some official 2e book comes out.

How would/do you guys handle this? The player has a hidden weapon implant in his tail, and I'd like to know how to work with the tail rules-wise regarding things like scanners, electromagnetic pulses, and how likely someone is to notice it's an implant. Should I maybe treat it as an additional manipulator but remove the collapsible element and instead give it natural looking? Should I use the additional manipulator's stats (STR 6 DEX 10) or let the player use his own (the direct reverse)?

Want to be fair to the player, but also don't want the player to have unfair benefit that the new rules may not allow for. I'd like your opinion on what you think the best way to handle his tail rules-wise would be.

Thanks

I would let him keep his prehensile tail with the old rules. Don't punish a character for switching editions.

Unless the player wanted it to look unnatural, I would let it look natural enough. Perhaps Aslan (or Aslan-experts) could get a difficult roll to see it's artificial?

I would let the character use his DEX but only a low STR for the tail, perhaps STR / 2?
