AD2300 More DNAMs?

I'm kindof digging the concept of DNAMs as genetic modification packages with multiple repercussions and modifications rather than as seperate distinct pieces of gear ala' Eclipse Phase or shadowrun 4.
On the otherhand I feel like the selection is pretty thin and aside from the King Modification they don't really warrant being quarantined on the home planets. (especially since the Low-G mod would still be very usefull to large segments of the population in those systems.)

Are there more DNAM's in other source books or versions that aren't listed in the Core book?
Has anyone created any home brew DNAM's that they could share?

There are three DNAMs that are permitted on the Core Worlds of Earth and Tirane: merman, zero-gee, and gender-change. Any other type is allowed to visit for up to two weeks, but not to stay permanently.
Within the context of 2300AD's history, there are no other *legal* DNAMs available. Legal research stopped nearly 100 years ago. However, there are plenty of possibilities for illegal mods, like a vacuum mod, or a soldier mod.

Huh. Didn't notice about the merman and zero-G. Thanks for correcting me It's very cool that you would reply to noob questions.

And thanks for pointing out the Legality issue. I've got ideas for the transhumanist elements in the setting. I don't really understand world or colony profiles yet so I don't quite get what law levels occur where.

If the transhumanists were seeding some relatively innocuous new DNAM where would they be most likely to find a receptive population and where would they be most likey to get away with it, (at what law level)?

My ideas for innocuous DNAMs that might be popular would be things like;
An Athletics mod that would grant the Powerful trait and possibly Ambidexterous or Cool Under Fire.
An Anagathics mod that would grant a +3-4 DM to Aging rolls and possibly grant Rapid healing or resistance to diseas traits.

Also Where can I get more info on the Pentapods. They have Got to be working on genetic mods for humans. Is there any chance that they're selling black market mods under the noses of the authorities on the core worlds?

The existence of, and interactions with, a previously unknown Pentapod base is a prominent plot element in the second of the Grendelssaga adventures ("Salvage Rights") plus one of the Pentapod liaison 'morphs in that adventure features in "Under The Tricolore's Shadow" and "Beanstalk".

I believe Colin has Pentapods earmarked for extended treatment in a future publication - but he can give you the skinny on that.

Yup - it's an obvious 'route to market' for them given their cultural focus on advanced biotech. It seems entirely plausible to me that one (or several) Pentapod factions might be extending a friendly pseudopod to various elements of the Provolution underground; with Pentapod internal politics the way they are (viciously competitive and largely inscrutable to humans) it's also entirely plausible that other Pentapod factions are working hard to undermine and subvert these links.

See 'Voice of the Whirlwind' by Walter Jon Williams for a good rendition of this sort of scenario.

Luke

Unlikely to get much through the quarantine around the Core worlds, but it is possible.

Most Frontier worlds would be at least accepting of new DNAMs. However, since many colonists have already been modified, new mods would be subject to the "stacking" rules in the core book.
