ACTASF More Ships?

I was wondering if there were plans to release more ship stats for the rest of the ships already in ADB's Star Fleet Battles/Federation Commander games, especially the battleships and other ship variants?

Yes, in the fullness of time.

The first expansion is already planned.
It will be called A Call to Arms: Battleships.
So far the plan for this one is to fill out the current empires, add the Lyrans, and then add Battleships and Heavy Dreadnoughts for those empires.

After that, the plan is one new expansion per year.
Each expansion is assumed to encompass 55 to 60 new ships and one new empire.
At that rate, we've got enough material to last us until sometime around 2020.

DNLs are beign considered.
It depends on how much room the required stuff takes.

If there's room, DNLs will be included. If there isn't enough room, DNLs will have to wait til the next expansion.

Or at least that's the way I understood it from the PTBs.

Also, I think I understood Matt to post there would be some ships given in online newsletters and such. (Planet Mongoose, Signs and Portents if they revive it).

Postponing the DNLs to book 3 means that all three of the Squadron Boxes tied to FC: Battleships Attack would have to be kept aside also, since they all have light dreadnoughts included.

(SB#17 might have to be postponed anyway, since it has the Lyran and Hydran DNLs and DNHs.)

Actually, from the Orion Attack batch, SB#22 might also be an issue, since it has the Hydran Gendarme and Lyran MP included.

To me there are two different threads to adding ships:

1) New Ship designs and models for them.

2) Ship variants

The second can be accomplished very easily and reletively quickly? The first is the one that needs time to accomplish......

Terry's right.
The DN ministures we're all going to have extras of can sub for DNH's with little effort and BBs will probably sell much better in blisters of 1 than in a $200 box of 7 or 8.
And the other empires that have BBs in that box won't be out for another year or two.

I'd like to see police ships (Klingon G2, Gorn FF, Tholian light PC) for convoy escort games and skirmishes.

I'd like to see the Fed Franz Joseph ships, and the Romulan Vulture dreadnought.

Once the basic hulls are in the game it is a piece of cake to add variants to them.

I have seen the first draft of the expansion rules and youare going to be quite pleased.
In addition to battleships and heavy dreadnought, the fleet lists include the Gorn FF, the Lyran Military Police Frigate, the Romulan Vulture, and htere are a couple of scouts and commando units in there, so that may expand to include one for each empire.

The bad news, there's only two new Federation ships at the moment.
All the rest of the space is going towards filling up the other empires forces.

Only 2 fed ships isn't too bad, IMO, because right now they've got more than any one other empire.

I'd just like to see the Orions and Tholians filled out a little. Especially the Orions, because of the police ships, what good is cops without robbers? :twisted:

For the Franz Joseph ships the most logical thing to do would be to put them out in a squadron box with a 2 sided sheet giving the stats and make it available online. This means that the people who want the FJ ships can easily get hold of the rules for them and it doesn't tie them into a specific book release.

It also means if you've got a release that's a bit thin on the ground for the Federation, like Battleships, then you can put it out around that time, or save it for a Nov/Dec release to give Fed players something for Christmas and have something out there for a fleet that will be in the top 3 sellers.

The Federation comment was sarcasm. [they really need a sarcastic font :wink: ]

As for the Orions, there are 9 new Orion Pirate vessels in the first draft.

Cool, I thought I heard there was more Orions, but its nice to see it confirmed, thank you Scoutdad. I hope the Option mount selection gets expanded ala Orion Attack, as the options currently in CTA:SF are pretty limited.
