[ACTA:SF] Question about retail packed Starline 2500 minis

I have a question. I had been considering buying more Kzinti models, but after receiving mine in poor condition due to bent booms, and talking to a couple other people with the same situation, I am very hesitant.

Does anyone have any personal experience with the retail packaged Starline 2500s, supposedly in sturdier packaging than a flimsy ziplock bag? I am trying to figure out if it is worth my while to attempt to obtain the Kzinti ships in retail packed format if I can track some down.

I know Matt said they were going to work on the packaging situation, but I am still curious about this.

You got yours in a bag? Weird. I ordered both Fed squad boxes, which were still packaged in their cardboard, and I think there were a few packing peanuts inside, though I can't remember. I also got the Klingon fleet box, which was in a thinner cardboard box, and I don't believe there was any padding inside that one. Otherwise, that's all I've gotten.

Wait, no, I also ordered a couple random blisters of ships, but I don't remember how those were packaged. I think they were in the baggies in a padded envelope.

No, I mean every ship I have gotten via mailorder has been packed in cheezy ziplock bags, no padding, no nothing, inside cardboard boxes.

I was trying to figure out if I might improve my chances of obtaining Kzinti ships without bent booms by going the retail packed route, but since I cannot look at them in person, hence my question.

I have gotten several ship in the retail packaging and have had about the same mix of bent booms on the klingons. I bought a Kzinti feet box and squadron box and had quite a few bent pieces. nothing i couldn't straighten out. and they seam fine now that i have them painted and mounted on the stands. I would say buy what is the cheapest. :) http://www.frpgames.com has some ships and fleet boxes on sale.

99.9% of all ships that get, umm, shipped from the UK (covers everywhere except US and Canada) will come in the retail clamshells (or boxes for squadrons and fleets).

Only time I've ever gotten bagged ships is squadron/fleet boxes and by shaking them out of Matt when I've been at Mongoose Towers.
