ACTA:SF First Impression

I just got a big box from my favorite on-line gaming store yesterday, and I practically ran into the house, giddy as a school boy on Christmas morning! Inside, I found a shinny new rulebook, along with not one... not two... but three new fleet boxes!

I only had time to skim through the rules, but so far I like what I see. This is my first exposure to the ACTA rules system, but as an old-school SFB player who used to lug around an 8-inch 3-ring binder full of rules and scenarios, I welcome the more streamline system! I'm hoping to get my feet wet this weekend with a practice game or two.

I popped all three boxes open, but only got to really drool over... I mean look closely at the Federation fleet. It looks like everything is there, and the sculptings and castings look really good. I can't wait to get these painted up. Used to have a large collection of the old Starline 2400 miniatures, but the box they were in went missing duing a cross-country move a couple of years ago and I never got around to replacing them. Nice as they were, I really like the extra detail on these Starline 2500 miniatures.

If you find yourself near Atlanta on a weekend, post here a we'll arrange a game.

I can certainly promise something for Siege of Augusta in January.

Great news, Michael. If you make it to middle TN - we'll gladly blow some of those new minis of yours into space dust for you!

hmmm... Siege of Augusta. too bad my son was transferred from Fort Gordon to Fort Hood. That would have been a good time to visit him.

Well, I don't actually have anyone convinced to invest in ACTA:SF in my area yet, so I'll definetly keep your offer in mind! :D

Really? I've never been to a "Siege", but I thought they were a historical gaming convention. Do they host SF/F gaming, too? I'll have to mark it on my calendar. :?

Temps this weekend are forcast to be around 106°F, which sounds like great weather to stay inside with the A/C, and get some painting done!

Siege of Augusta has a bit of everything from 40K to VSF, Sci-Fi and Fantasy along with the traditional historical games.
