If one of you chaps can drop me an email, we'll see if we can get some promo (not yet released) minis to you!

This is just a reminder... about this event. Will look forward to seeing you all there.

Matt has told us we have some stuff to give away, I'll give an update on this as soon as it all arrives... :D But without spoilers of course... you'll have to turn up to see the goodies... :o

When we figure out how we can give it away, we are there for 2 days, so we may need to ration the goodies, to ensure some goodies for the Sunday...

Right the goodies have arrived, in a limited number, so after a discussion with our club members, we will only be giving them away later on, to those who express an extreme new interest in the game, on the Sunday. This is to allow a display of the products and packaging over most of the weekend event...

Sorry if this disapoints only those which can come on the Saturday, I'll follow up the event with some pics and photos.

The line up this weekend... Is Klingon Fleet Box Vs Romulan... With a couple of ships removed to tie the points values.

Klingon
C8, C7, FD7, D5W, 2xD5, 2xD7, 2xD6, 2xF5, 2xE4

Romulan
Con, FFH, KE, SPA, KR, 2xWE, 1xSKH, 3xBH, 3xSNB, 1xKF5R

Please pop along and say hello if you are near East Midlands Airport/Castle Donnington/Derby.

There's a participation Klingon D7 vs Federation CA battle you can take part in too.

Day One Of Derby World Wargames 2012.

Dear fellow wargamers. Just got back from Derby World Wargames, day one of two down.

Firstly the new venue...
Donnington Race course... Big room about 3/4 the space of Salute at the Excel Center. 1/3 devoted to competition tables. 1/3 devoted to demo's and participation, and 1/3 devoted to traders.

Secondly our game...
Klingons vs Romulans.. The klingons won... they destroyed lots of the Romulans, and lost an equal number of ships, but they left a lot of the Romulans crippled. We're resetting for tomorrow and running again, to see if different tactics can win for the Roms.

Thirdly the participation and promotion...
Klingon D7 vs Federation CA. Lots of interest in the game, lots of casual passing by, people saying "I used to play SFB" Thats "looks like fun", we ran 9 demo participation games alongside the main battle all which got positive reviews... Think the score is about 6-3 to the Klingons.

Pop along and say hello... I'm the nutter in the "Keep Calm and Klingon" T-Shirt.

Sorry for the lack of follow up, I have been what you would call very busy...

Day 2 continued we reset the Klingon Vs Romulan battle, and tried again... Klingons won again... :-( I tried different tactics but still to no success.

The participation battles quietened down as did the show, with about half the people on the second day from the first. But people still expressed interest in the game... we encounted people who were gamers of ACTA:SF who came to the game this time from ACTA:B5 who were not complimentary about that game but loved the SF version. They hadn't played SFB. I think the main thing that they liked is the stability which the SFU brought to the game which they felt that the B5 system didnt have.

We had some great tactic discussions with a couple of people about how to beat the Klingons with the Romulans.

Overall it was 8-3 for the Klingon vs Federation participation, battle. But I think thats down to the tactics. We tried it ourselves and as an experienced player we found you could win with the Federation easily with little return in damage. But without the experience the Klingon seemed to dominate especially for the newbies in maneuverability.

Our goodies were given away to some very happy kids, one of which was autistic.
