ACTA - Numbering ships

I have rather poor penmanship and would not have much luck painting numbers on a model. Is there any recommended stencils or stamps that would work for numbering the ACTA ships? (for example giving the EAS ships numeric designations near the fore of the ship)

Or you could try some of HassleFree Miniatures decals.. they're grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat (oh hang on, that's Frosties!!)

I take it that you mean hull numbers like those on the Hyperion sides ?

You could probably find decals intended for military models in most specialist model shops although getting ones of the correct size and typeface may be problematical. There was a company that did decals for the AOG full-size ships (which are the same molds as ACTA models use for the most part) although I don't know if they are still available. I don't recall who produced them but a little bit of googling should get you the details. Failing that you could try marking the hulls in pencil and then tracing the markings with a very fine brush. Try it out on some paper first.

That's them. I think that around a third of the transfers are for the large AOG fighters rather than cap ships. There's about a dozen names and numbers for Hyperions and around the same number of names for Omegas, along with a pile of EA flashes.

Incredibly useful decal sheet. The numbers are great for identifying and aesthetics! My hands just aren't steady enough for numbering/lettering. The EA symbols are nice too.

They also do Alien insignia. Narn and Centauri I think. Also fixing and matting solutions for the decals. I've heard they're a bit flimsy 'though. I'll find out soon enough when the ones I ordered arrive.

Hey any updates on this from someone else who ordered them, are they good stuff, workable?

Also to add a question here, what particular font, if any, is used for the EA ships numbering in particular? I MAY have found another source of pure number sheets, but I want to make sure that they are the right font if any. (if not this guy CAN do some custom orders...) once I find out I will get more info up on here about them!

They're pretty good, if a bit fiddly to work with. Although that's probably just me :)

There's sets of decals (numbers, names and letters) for about a dozen for Hyperions specifically, and about twice that for Omegas plus a load of EA flashes and numbers mostly intended for the larger AOG fighters which can be used for pretty much any other EA ship. The Hyperion and Omega sets are duplicated in case of any mishaps. The Hyperion registry numbers (which go on the upper hull between the stripes) seem a little big so I decided to use them on my Orestes instead. Don't know what font is used, but you can get a look at the sheet on the Griffon Games order page.

I use Fighting Pirannha Graphics. They specialize in Battletech decals but they also do custom orders you just need to email them the design.

LOL that is who I was talking with too, from my MW days...lol their sheets are pretty good from past dealings...and the numbering looks to be spot on. they are also very easy to deal with on custom stuff, so well after I get my ships to the stage where I am comfortable putting decals on them, I will look into geting some stuff done up, but I too reccomend them if you are looking, or have found reason to search beyond what you presently use!
