ACTA: Campaign of Terror, Day 1

Mean Mutton

Mongoose
Last night we played our first campaign turn in our new Campaign of Terror. Our two fleets were Raiders versus Narn.

The Raiders player (that's me) started with two ships: a Strike Carrier (Advanced Fighters, Expanded Hanger) and an Abbai Milini Carrier (Advanced Fighters).

The Narn player started out with a huge, giant, intimidating fleet.

Our first turn scenario wound up being an Ambush. Randon FAPs gave the Narn... 1. The Narn brought a Ka'Tan Escort Destroyer and four Sho'Kov Torpedo Cutters. As this is a CoT, the Narn fleet also had the pleasure of using six standard corporate freighters.

The Raiders brought their entire fleet.

The Narn lined his ship up in a nice, loose formation across the middle of the battlefield. Two Sho-Kov were in a squadron to the left of the formation, two were squadroned to the right.

The Raiders entered the battlefield with from the rear-right of the formation.

The first round, the Raiders did little other than launch fighters and take a single, inconsequential shot with the Milini's beam weapon.

The battle itself was rather short and bloody -- when you have so few ships, a fight doesn't run too long. The Narn suffered greatly and managed only to retreat two of the Sho-Kov and three freighters from the map while the Raiders lost all their fighters (Fleet Carrier rolls only worked once the entire fight - bad luck) but captured a Sho-Kov and a freighter.

In the aftermath, the Raiders were able to pull together a massive amount of resources. The second battle was rolled up -- 3 FAPs for Convoy Duty against the now much larger Raider fleet.

More to come next week after we play our second turn.
