Ohoho. So the Heer is showing up in the core book after all, eh? A mighty seven army lists, this is sounding pretty good, I must say.

(I gotta admit, I still kinda miss the idea of the EFTF, even if it didn't pan out as the equivalent of the League of Non-aligned Worlds I had initially imagined it to be.)

Planet Mongoose 3-26-08:
Books and Books and Books!
The past couple of weeks have found us wrestling with file formats and fonts (always an issue when you change printers), but we have finally got on top of things, and books are now rolling out. We have, or are in the process of, reprinted the vast majority of our range, plus some new books will be appearing within the next 2-3 weeks.

Popular books such as RuneQuest Deluxe, the Spellbook and Elric have been leading the reprints. We have also started reprinting Cthulhutech as well - look for these books coming back onto the shelves of your local retailer throughout April.

New books include Land of the Samurai, RuneQuest Monsters II, and Secrets of Tragic Europe (Dark Passions to, though that will go on general release alongside the Cthulhutech main rulebook next month).

All of which means we are now prepping the next set of titles in our lines. Castle Brass and Secrets of Skelos will be the next books out, along with Battlefield Evolution: World at War. This last book has been focussing a lot of our efforts lately, and we have had great fun putting together some articles for it in the next Signs & Portents, so look out for the previews, and a battle report!

In Game Design Land, Battlefield Evolution: Modern Combat is about to enter the final phases of playtesting, as we make sure all the current units are balanced, and squeeze in any new units that simply 'have' to be there. The final army lists are now all present and correct, and include;

The British Army
The United States Army
The United States Marine Corps
The Middle Eastern Alliance
The German Heer
The Russian Army
The (Chinese) People's Liberation Army

So, you will have lots of Modern Combat goodness, wherever you are in the world. And, of course, because the game is Open Content, you will be free to add your own forces (Australian, anyone? French?), and release them for the review of your gaming peers!

We will be releasing the Battlefield Evolution Logo Licence very soon (the actual SRD will follow a little later), so you will see what is permissable to write for additions to the game (or which miniatures can be released with the logo!).

No surprises here. I did beleive there might be the IDF in the list however I would rather see the Germans. As a playtester, I believe "Modern Combat" is evolving into something special.

I think everyone will be happy with the new ruleset.
:D

Sometimes, I think I'm the only guy out there interested in fielding the Armee de Terre. Admittedly, the paucity of players extolling their virtues at least half the reason I wanted to buck the trend...

Ah well, there's supplements to come, eh folks?

You know, they were 'this' close to going in! However, in a choice between the French and Germans, the latter get the Leopard 2. With the proposed 140mm upgrade, it was just too sexy not to have in the book (yes, this is how many game design decisions are made :)).

I for one like the choices of the army lists and look forward to the book when it is published. Can we expect nice pictures of the units and fiction in the book as well Matt?

Dear MSprange:

What you have done by choosing the Germans to be in the book puts a big smile in my face (being German).
What you have given them in their army list indeed makes me rather shiver than happy.
(some proper research, please)

Will there be a 140mm option for the Leclerc and Challenger II? IIRC both GIAT and RO are involved in the development of the 140mm gun (and RO began test firing their development in the early 1990s)
