Abjure Rules

From the basic writeup paragraph, it says if allows you to survive in the absence of something that normally you need to survive. Age doesn't really fit in with this description, nor does dreaming, but they are mentioned in the last sentence so I guess the presence of these examples implies that the spell can actually banish a process such as dreams or ageing rather than simply survive in the absence of them. So, that said, the spell has a lot of potential for some... creative variants. Lets hear your most outrageous suggestions!

Abjure Sorrow/Pity/Remorse - troubled by guilt? Dispel it!
Abjure Blood - bleeding to death? Never mind, don't need that blood anyway.
Abjure Light - see in the dark?
Abjure Physical Body - Sorcerous version of Discorporate? Or you could just be a disembodied soul able to float around casting magic but immune to physical damage!
Abjure Heart - stick it in a jar, and reduce the chance of critical hits against you!

The fly in the ointment is that the duration for Sorcery spells sucks, being linear. Even with 10 points of Duration, you can only just top three hours of freedom from those pesky processes - what use is immortality if you have to cast it every couple of hours, using up vast amounts of stored Magic Points? I think I need to make another post about Duration.

Well, with the World Cup underway, I'm sure some significant others would like to be able to cast..

Abjure Football
Abjure Beer

I originally posted this under the Sorcery Duration thread because it came to mind while I was posting to reply there. But I moved it here to keep the other thread about duration and because this one is about Abjure spells. (I should probably stop posting at 4am when I am nodding off at the keyboard. )
+ + + + +

I was thinking about a sorceror using Abure Air to operate underwater. That is a very dangerous and precarious situation if there are any hostiles in the area. The sorceror had better put some points into Magnitude to make it harder to dispel the Abjure (Air).

A sorceror who only manipulates the duration on his Abjure (Air) spell would be very vulnerable to a 1 point Countermagic. Poof! Gasp!

Can a sorceror who is holding his breath while under water using the Abjure (Air) spell cast spells? I think not, or maybe only once. Assuming he can complete the chant for the spell on the one lungful of air he was holding, he could get the spell off. After that, he would be bringing in water to his lungs and human vocal apparatus was not designed to work with water for talking or chanting. He better do something to clear the water from his lungs before the Abjure (Air) spell wears off.
