Yeah the stats looks good on the fly and yeah I thought the ABC Wardroid was pretty BOSS! (I love that word! LOL!) I wonder if they will make an appearance in the Minis game? Now that would be sweet!

I must say the movie is quite LOUD. I'm glad the back part of the house was vacated except for my presence last night. It was played on Showtime I think. I was afraid I'd wake up the neighbors!

Yeah, but I think the only thing that hurt this movie was the budget it would be interesting to know how much of the script was cut and if none then with a better script or more added to it and a larger budget this movie could have been better.

But it gets enough of the image and feel across to players who are not familliar enough with comic series or could careless and just want to play a game of Judge Dredd. Who knows if it lures them in enough to get hooked to the game then maybe they will join the millions of us Dredd-Heads out there already!

Dredd had a very large budget for its size coming in at $85,000,000, which even now is still considered big budget. It didnt do very well in the states only taking $12,291,536 in its first 3 days rising to $29,176,199 17 after 10. Of course in the UK it was a different matter taking a total of £7,319,412 during its intial release and opening very strongly with £1,635,537.

Dredd was the 17th highest grossing film in the United Kingdom during 1985, with some really strong movies to compete against, including Goldeneye, Apollo 13, Babe, Braveheart and Batman Forever. It is really interesting to note that though Judge Dredd was 17th the movie in position 16 was Star Trek Generations, opening with £2,043,824, despite being one of the most successful franchises around.

Just a few numbers there for you folks. I studied Dredd during my third year of my film degree so the numbers are pretty close to the mark.

I think that if the critics hadn't lambasted the movie as much as they did, and that a few elements had been removed such as Aspen and Dredds clone brother Rico looking nothing at all like him, hten the movie may have gone down a little better. The original script for the movie was terrible and if the film had been shot as it was Dredd would have been luckly to rake in a third of what it actually took.

One final point that should be addressed. When you consider how many people live in the United States and how many live in the UK, the movie did very, very well.

Well I know personally, I own the movie since I like it and it has some great moments. I had watched this past week again for the 100th some odd time and yeah there are things like Aspen and Rico but overall I enjoyed it. Sure there could have been other additions but I'm not complaining.

But from the way most go on you would think this movie bombed or something? The numbers are great since it gives a better picture of how well the movie did do. I never listen to critics on a movie since they don't know their heads from their arses about what I would like.

I know what I like and I go and see it,I give everything a chance unless it really doesn't appeal to me. But it would be cool if another Dredd movie was made and I would LOVE a Slaine movie!!!!!!

Daithi, I agree with you completely, the movie is great despite the inconsistancies from the comic, and its one of my sons favourite movies of all time and I really like it myself.

Critical reviews of movies all tend to be really long winded and full of overly long words to make the reviewers sound uber intellegent, I know as I was lambasted during my degree for 'telling it as it is', and words such as semiotic analysis are just a long winded way of saying this film is good or bad

Anyway if you havent seen the movie go out and rent it or better yet buy it as its worth the price even if only for the ABC Robot and the Angel Gang, and as for Mega-City One WOW :D
