AA rules clarification for a new player.

Mongoose
I just bought the first book and I don't exactly understand the AA rules.

It shoots auto if planes are in range? So before anyone else attacks?
Do all ships fire AA at the same time or does it fire per nominated ship?

The way I read it, it goes...
1. All ships move
2. All planes move
3. All AA guns fire - every single ship with targets in range (I would assume that the player who has initiative fires all his guns first)
4. ships and planes alternate attacking in nominated order.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. But.... it doesn't really answer my question.

After movement is completed (all ships and all planes) the attack phase begins. Does every AA gun in the game fire now? Then you move on to alternately declare and attack with planes / ships?

As I say, I only have the first book, not OOB - so I don't know if things have changed.

In response to your actual statement, the book says that you may nominate all aircraft to attack (at the same time) instead of a ship at any time during the attack phase. So aircraft don't need to attack before ships, but could if you chose.

BTW, just started looking over your house rules. Pretty cool - lots of effort - no real opinion formed yet, still reading.
