A wee shuttle [UPDATED with a few more wee shuttles]

I made a 10 ton shuttle by slicing the 20 ton in half longitudinally. Works better for drawing and space for humans.

I got one of those too :D Didn't fit the space I had for a small craft on my big craft deckplan, so a new model was born.

Ah yes. The every present problem of hanger space. :)

Yes - I nearly ended up with a 7.5Dton ship shaped like a parallelogram.

How about a maneuver drive that you can wear on your back? You get in a vacc suit with a built in maneuver drive and you head for orbit. What is the minimum size for a small craft? could a small craft be a vacc suit with thrusters and a hydrogen tank, or do you think miniaturizing a fusion reactor might prove to be a problem?

20 tons.

I don't know if you'd call it a small craft but there is exactly what you describe in MGT.

Thruster Pack - TL 12 the long-range thruster pack gives 0.1g acceleration for up to 48 hours, using standard starship fuel. This increases its practical range on the spacecraft scale to Short but gives it a weight of 10kg. Cr. 14,000. The TL 14 version of the long-range pack is much smaller as it uses grav-thruster plates instead, but has the same performance profile as the TL 12 version. Cr. 20,000.

So, fusion powered mini grav propulsion pack.

Not in MTU :D

I have a 5Dton space bug.

Just in the current version of the Mongoose Traveller rules the smallest size for a small craft hull is ten tons.

I've gone that route, anything below ten tonnes isn't legal, and you could justify that on structural integrity, which seems rather vague especially once you start comparing it to Space Station design.

You can make a rocket sled at around three tons, and the smallest viable fighter at around five.

but no taking off of a planet's surface in a vacc suit and going into space.

If one were wearing combat armor with the grav enhancement (grav belt) & The Thruster pack, you could. :)

If I were to go full grognard I could dig out references to 6 and 8 ton fighter designs in various CT adventures (Broadsword and Leviathan IIRC).
