A Thank You too ADB/Mongoose

Been reading, and involved in, several of the threads on the forum, and i thought it would just be nice to say 'Thank You' to all at ADB and Mongoose for bringing my favourite background (I've been an SFB/Fc player for around 30 odd years, though only occasionally ) to a game system i can happily play 'FLEET' actions of 12 or more ships a side without issue.

I know things have not gone to plan, i know that some areas of the rules are causing concern amoung the player group, i know that both parties have things (which may not always be the same things) that they need to watch for and control. I also know that you are GOING to get the 'it doesn't work like tha in the other systems', and people will be interested to know WHY certain things hav been done the way they have (was worried about seeking weapons, as with no counters the tactics to use them change, but i think that a fair job of modelling them has resulted). Above all 'THIS IS ActA:SF and not SFB/FC', so things will come out differently. I thnk the level of feedback and response on the forum is good, and much better than some other sites, as we do get information about what is happening, evenif it's not what we want to hear

So, thank you for the game, the new models 8) and your hard work. I may not agree with everything that's in the rules, but i am thankful that i have these rules to be picky about in the first place.

Well said sir, well said.

May I also add my thanks.

I am also a long term SFB player and am very happy to see big fleet actions become not just possible but entirely playable and fun.

Please accept my thanks for all the hard work you have done and don't take my frequent posts over the Gorn as criticism of the system as a whole.

I will fight to the last dead Klingon or Fed to defend the Gorn and raise them to their rightful place as a full and feared power in the Star Fleet universe but it does not in any way diminish my appreciation for the entire ACTA-SFB game.

Mongoose and ADB keep up the good work.

Thanks from me as well. I'm not an SFU/FC player but I love the ships and the background and have been making do with 2400 series and other adaptations but this is a winner.

I appreciate the pain in launching a new game and miniatures in a new medium (resin) and clearly, both ADB and Mongoose are working in good faith to get things right.

Now I'm off to play a game of ACTA/SF and ideally, recruit a new Romulan player (he is a natural born sneak).

I agree, this game is AWESOME :!:

Despite my decision to play with 2400's, the game is great, my gaming group loves it. The shop I played at yesterday mouth is watering to get their hands on at least the rule books. :P

I am generally no a Scifi player, but can't resist SFU stuff, been playing SFB since '81. I don't care that isn't the same, and I'm not throwing my SFB stuff out. Time and place for both.

I shall add my voice of appreciation! Also a SFB player since it originally came out and have each version.

The simplicity of this new version has made it much easier for me to convice people to play on the spur of the moment. I teach the entire game to newcomers in one session. A few rule clarifications is nothing! Back to learning tactics instead of memorizing hundrends of rules! Bring on the beer and pretzels!

So thank you for a great game.

I have to throw my 2 Quatloos worth in as well.
I've emailed Matthew and Steve before to say thanks, but haven't passed that on to the general staff.

I know it takes more than just Steve and Matthew (sorry guys, ) to make this come together. So thankls to everybody at Mongoose and ADB who helped.

My only link to the SFU has been on celluloid in the past but I played one test game of this and I was totally hooked! I know some people have had issues (as there are with most rules) but I'd say don't lose sight of what's been achieved because you don't agree with certain aspects. Well done to KN for encouraging such a positive thread.

Couldn't have said it better myself. +1 for this thread.

The opportunity to have Star Fleet games playable at the fleet level is incredible and I hope this game enjoys many years of success.

Yes, the game is a blast! While I used to play SFB it just isn't the kind of game that would work with my current gaming group. ACTASF is a game that works for us and its great to get to delve into the SFU again!

Looking forward to playing bigger and bigger games of it too - ones that never would have been practical with SFB - especially with carriers (hint hint!).

My only contact with Mongoose customer service was promptly responded to and the issue resolved to my satisfaction. Matt actually takes the time to answer my questions, even if the rule was clear and I just missed it. I think that speaks volumes of how much they are trying to create a great game experience for us.

In honesty, I am holding off getting more mini's until the quality issue is solved, but ACTA:SF has my 12 year old son and 15 year old daughter watching restored episodes of TOS Trek, so who can argue against that! ;) My son and I play when we can, and have starting making some terrain for the game as well. Lots of good Father/Son time results.

Nothing and no one is perfect. While the corrections and other issues are frustrating, I think if we are patient we can all enjoy this game for many years to come. I just have stopped laminating the Errata and FAQ sheet for a while to see where things end up. :)

Hang in there Mongoose. . .
