A question for Mongoose Publishing...

Well Matt points out above the likelihood of the rules cards being summarised in s&P which is available for free download on the site, so in an indirect way at least, they should be there.

LBH

Another option is a pack of unit cards for each faction coveing all the units realeased so far a bit like Privateer press's change to colour stat cards for warmachine.

I would buy this

I want a stat card for nukes, churches and the interaction rules therebetween

LBH
(I dunno if it's a word but I just made it one)

Blinding flash - Big boom - hot wind and dust and if you still have your eyes (I was luckly wearing my Oakley shades) a big mushroom

While I like the idea of there not being any essential rule books, I would really like a summary of the info on the unit cards. Especially if it were in the form of a pdf or the like. I like to know what army choices I have available, and what choices my opponent has available and what all the choices are capable of doing. Otherwise I'd have to get one of every unit just to find out what it does...
I would be amazed if that wasn't covered in S&P. . .

I'll still recommend a compilation publication, maybe on a yearly basis or so. For folks like me who like good quality hard copies. The opportunity to get errata, rules clarifications and extra fluff out there are just a bonus.

My understanding is that every currently existing unit and planned unit for the four basic Species will be included in the Rulebook for Evo to be released approximately three months after the initial unit releases for SST:Evo.

After that I believe unit cards for new units and Armies would be available on line as either direct downloads, or in S&P thus eliminating the necessity for buying a complete new updated rulebook every year.

If they are properly organized you should be able to print them out and bind them into spiral or comb bound books quite easily.

This entails much less expense for the game players and less investment for the company in lower profit margin products like books. It also means your favorite FLGS does not need to carry an additional low profit, low demand item in stock.

I have rebound a great many hardbound rulebooks into comb bindings over the years. Comb bound books will lay flat on a gaming table and stay open to the page you are looking at, without flopping shut, a big plus in my viewpoint.

Either way I think Mongoose is really trying to do what they regard as the best for helping SST to be better for all of us and to encourage new players.

Let us hope we are all pleased with things after July 2007. :D :D :D :D

I get the idea, I just prefer the option of a hard-copy compilation book as well. I buy the Privateer Press games updates, even though I could get all the unit cards as I buy figures, and already own all the magazines that describe a decent chunk of the new figures. I bought the Ships of the Fleet books for B5W, despite owning all the source books. I even bought a hard copy of the Epic Armageddon rulebook, despite the fact that a) the PDF is free on the Internet, and b) I haven't played 6mm in a decade or so. I'd buy a copy of Stormwind, too, if they were still available.

My point is, there's a market for compilations. If the market isn't big enough to justify the product, fine, I can live with that. As long as it's been looked at, not just assumed away because "no one would buy that". I would, and I'd imagine PP's sales figures for Superiority say I'm not the only one.

There have been S&P compilations, and I think there's another coming up for Conan soon. I'm pretty certain that after there's been enough material in S&P for the new game there'll be some consideration given to it :)
