I have been rethinking my idea for my new race. Here is a new idea for 1st contact, by The Pcs, but The Third Imperium
The characters, at least 1 of whom is A Noble with almost no chance of inheritance, pick up a distress call after jumping to the wrong system when A Incompetent but Loyal Engineer types 18 instead of 81 as the last 2 digits of The Jump Code
They go to investigate and find A Life Support Pod that is clearly at least TL 18 near the wreck of a ship that was clearly A, light for the race that build it, Carrier of at least 282,900 tons that had been converted into A Very Heavily Armed and Armoured Diplomatic Ship
They approach, detect a survivor onboard, hopefully rescue her, she turns out to be The Super-Races Kings illegitimate half-human grand-daughter, her own kind turn up to rescue her, I reckon 74 ships ranging from 6,000 ton TL 17 Fairly Heavy Escorts to A 600,000 ton TL 22 Super-Heavy Carrier.
Just as the characters are about to be destroyed, but not before The Kings Grand-Daughter is beamed to their Flagship, she explains to the fleets leader what really happened, the Pcs are not killed or even harmed and using A Prototype TL 27 Jump Gate that if basically A Stargate SG1 rip-off and does in seconds what would otherwise take 104 years at Jump 6 and are rewared with whatever I think suits the campaign for them to return to The Imperium, buy a portfolio worth Cr 30+ million each and keep adventuring out of boredom, not a need to, and when The Imperium makes 1st contact the characters will be responsible for peace with this race, not a war that even a alliance of every other race in the setting could delay by more then a year or so
