Just a bit of shameless and wholly undeserved self-promotion. Here is my Centauri fleet:

No reason for posting it really other than I've never taken a pic of the whole lot at once until now

There's a reason I took the picture from a distance :lol: (i.e. my painting's not the best!) Thanks for all the comments though! Vorchan number 5 was completed today and once my 2e books arrive I'll be reorganising the fleet (read: ordering more ships...)

Very nicely painted. Did you use liche purple. Not knocking liche purple, but I have only seen one other painted centauri fleet down here, and he had also used LP. It looked cool in the one game we had were we both used parts of our fleets. His and mine ships are trimed differently, but the liche purple kind of united our fleets. Like two different house fleet together on the table.

Nope, I undercoated black and then used Midnight Blue - for whatever reason it dries to this nice deep purple colour when you paint it over black. No idea why but it looks nice! Other colours were Dwarf Bronze and Codex Grey, with little bits of Mithril Silver (mostly for gun barrels) and Ice Blue (engine exhausts), and then a fine black draughting pen for the black lines...

If you want a nice purple that dires with a good even finish try Hormagaunt Purple it's one of GW's latest money spinning rage of Foundation paints, but it goes well over black or white undercaot, it dries with a solid even streakless finish and has a good deep colour to it.
