A couple of Robot Questions

I just purchased Robots and after going through the book a few times I have a question
There appear to be two different medical scanners that can be built into a robot: one is a gadget and one is a sensory input, they both do about the same thing but take different amounts of time to scan a patient and provide different DMs to the medic check. Are they meant to be different types of equipment (like the gadget scanner is a removable part that anyone can use or something)? it is a little bit unclear.

Treat them as different pieces of equipment with the higher TL one being a more advanced model. Should have both been in the same section, really, so apologies for that.
