2nd Game - Much better have queries

Hi played a game tonight at the local wargames club, was a great deal of fun. two teams of two. We (japs) decisively won.

Similar to last game, one war level BS one battle level BS a couple of cruisers and 4 destroyers on each side.

Big guns deffinitely dominated the game. Jap Long lances came next, they are rather good.

Couple of queries.
Torpedoes hit in the end phase and damage control is done in the end phase. Which one is done first?

When a ship gets crippled you lose traits, turrets etc, it does not look as though it clearly deals with how you roll for torpedoes if you have them? Is it 4+ to destroy or not?

Not a query just an observation, Has anyone else considered adding additional AD's to either destroyers or cruisers? Destroyers have almost no useful guns at all and even 8 inch cruisers have a teeny tiny little punch?

My simple suggestion would be everything listed as 1AD becomes 2AD. Bit simple but just my 2p.

I'd say torpedoes first.

Currently there's no way you can lose torpedoes through damage.

In our first game we misread "Special Traits" for "Special Weapons", and were rolling to see if a Crippled ship lost their Torpedoes when crippled like you do the Traits. Most did, some didn't: may not have been the way it was intended, but it seemed to work.

I'd definitely go with the previously-suggested idea of substituting "Torpedoes" for "Turret" on the Critical Hit chart for ships with torps but without main turrets (like DD's).

If you read through the entire End Phase sequence it seems logical that damage (and possible Crits) from incoming Torpedoes would be resolved first, then conduct Damage Control to try and offset the effects.

In general I'd support a 4+ roll for the torpedo systems, same as for turrets, when the ship is crippled.

I was one of th eUS players in the game, yes we did get trounced, was those damn long lance torpedoes that done it.

Was an excelelent and most enjoyable game though, with screams of you sunk my battleship. and don't worry the rising water level will put the fires out (even though I lost by miles)

Thanks for the game Andy (Capt Kremann)

Was a pleasure, but next week we get back to ACTA, my Purple Drazi will finally get to see action. Some here from the ACTA forum will remember my Purple Drazi preparing for a tournament they never made it to....

I think VAS is a lot of fun, but bears very little claim to any kind of historical accuracy or as a simulation. I personally CAN live with that, at least once they have fixed the power of attack craft.

Cap'n Kremmen, I'm not sure what you mean by "BS" but if you're talking about battleships the abbreviation is "BB." Although you can just type out the whole word, it's not like we're on a character limit here...
