2nd ed prices?

I have pre-ordered from a shop in Calif. and they are $19.95. This is for the rules only. I imagine that the fleet book will be about the same.

So now that 2nd Edition is on the starting blocks and we'll all fork out another £35 for a copy, will this be the last revision or can we expect yet another edition in the near future?

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the game, but please can we have some standardization and set of core rules that will last for a year!

Regards

of course it won't be the last revision! games change

1st ed lasted more than a year even if you count SFOS as different, which itself lasted more than a year

1st Edition and SFOS lasted a year! My doesn't time fly!!! :x

Where is LBH when you need factual info?
1st ed was released about August 2004
SFOS released Aug 2005

2nd ed due Aug 2007

that's 3 years for 1st ed and 2 for SFOS

thats actually not a very long time really, even the monye grabbers of the EE keep an edition the same for around 8 years.

not with LOTR they didn't! :P

true it's not as long as we'd have liked but people were clamouring for a 2nd ed, 1st would have lasted longer had SFOS not upset the applecart IMO

I agree, in fact I am running a game at Gencon in August, which will be 1st Edition rules only, the original books and rules!

Bit like classic coke

Even still remember first ed wasnt exactly perfect ;)

TBolt Gank Swarms all armed with precice weapons, Minbari uberstealth with no way to reduce it (though at least they were weakly aremed back then), Emines of doom that could crit fish half a fleet if you werent careful.

I loved the game back then too but I do think its better in its current form now even though theres still problems here and there.

In the article in S&P Wargamer 43, Matt said he would be able to produce updates without "without having to change the entire game!".

That's not bad at all. I know of a company that has changed it's "flagship" game rules about every six months. So, four times in the past two years.

Kind of like rotating your tires :D
