2nd Ed Books...

Locutus9956

Mongoose
Well now Im getting annoyed... my replacement second ed rulebook is still a touch crinkly on the binding but is mostly allright so I left it at that for now... but now my fleet book, which had seemed fine has started having pages fall out of it....

I shall definitely be seeing if I can get them replaced this weekend when Im up at the mongoose tourney but this is getting a little silly now! Its a shame too as other than the binding issues Im finding it actually quite hard to fault 2nd Ed! I like nearly all the rules changes (even stealth is now growing on me since the changes), I like the fleets (pretty much all of them!), I like the new models, and havent even found any glaring missprints or typoes riddling the books for once!

Its just kind of annoying having this binding issue hangin over the whole thing :(

Well the stack shouldn't be bigger than 50, since only the first 50 had problems..............

(Think that's 50 in hectadecimal)

I just bought both books saturday at my flgs and i have to say it's not that bad.

The binding of the rulebook is a little dodgy, the pages don't bend very well at the center and it's impossible to let it stay opened at a definite page.

The fleet book is ok, thank god.

So far no sign they're going to fall apart and if that's so i'm ok with the quality. As long as the content is quality i can live with a book a little dodgy. I hope they learn from it tho or they'll soon be out of customers :)

keep a close eye on the fleet book ;) I thought mine was fine. For a couple of weeks (admittedly I didnt use it much in those weeks) it looked fine, was bound fine (seemingly) and the pages turned fine and opened flat. But then this weekend I just turned a page and it simply popped out of the book cleanly! Im not hopping mad or anything (and I know from experience Mongooses customer service is excellent so I have no doubt Ill easily be able to get a replacement) its just a shame theres not a little more quality control on the books. I mean as for the crinkly pages anyone just opening the book would spot it! I appreciate Mongoose are just learning the whole binding thing in house but I certainly hope they learn fast otherwise people are going to get pissed off (gamers are by and large a very fussy picky lot and a fickle target audience ;))

received the second edition books this weekend.

The Fleet book is ok,

but a question about the rule book, is it normal that the
printing is black and white only ???

From the counters in the back of the book it seems that
it should be colored like the fleet book, too.

And yes my rulebook has some dodgy pages and
closes not as good as it should do.

Where these book printed by another company ???
I had no problems with the CTA and Armageddon books.

Same thing as Locutus happened to me yesterday. The last few pages just popped out of it. By the end of the evening around 40 pages were making a bid for freedom.

My rules are in still in excellent condition, I'm thinking that its that nice overly tight binding that's responsible.

It was the 1e stuff that was printed by another company. The 2e ACTA went in-house with Mongoose.

My fleet book is also falling apart. I have the pdf and am in the process of printing out a book and putting it into sleeves. It started out fine and was very pleased with the book, now I won't use it as it will just continue to fall apart.

lol everyone's fleet book was excellent

Now one month later everyone's fleet book is falling apart as well :p (yes mine too ;))
It looks like timed-autodestruct bindings ^^

Until Saturday both books were OK (not great OK) and had all pages but someone was a touch heavy handed and pushed down on a rule book page and immediatley that page fell out................I guess rest won't be long to follow...........

think i will print out the sheets from burger to use in play,
so my fllet book will sit on the shelf to look shiny and not to
be touched again (to prevent falling apart).

The free sheets provided by the various wonderful people are a god send - thank you :D . But there are times when fleet rules need to be checked and such

and there's something better about being able to check a rulebook over a PDF (there's no loading time on a book for a start)
Still, the PDF hasn't fallen appart yet, but it may soon

*sigh*

looks like im going to be waiting yet longer to buy the rule and fleet books.

not interested in buying something that im going to have to get replaced.
