2e fighters?

well, most bombers have lower dodge scores though...eh, we'll see.

Chern

But if the AF defence keeps to 2" range then most bombers can still use their heavy guns safely. Thunderbolts in particular have 4" range missiles which currently play merry hell with my Brakiri ships with 3" range AF guns :(

I don't believe the plan for 2e is to change only a couple things. Lots of things are being evaluated, so if Shadow fighters (for example) are half as good, they'll either be beefed up or we'll get twice as many per wing.

Better. Shadows & horde mentality do not mix well IMO

I think the numbers feel about right.

I can understand them not being especially good in a dogfight - they are disposable attack dogs to all intents and purposes, not a fighter piloted by a sentient mind.

At present they're competent bombers, though, and that's what I'd keep them as

They're covered in shadow bio-armour yet more fragile than a thunderbolt...so I'd pretty much just boost the hull. Doesn't help against enemy fighters, doesnt require you to add even more firepower (even for shadows 2 AP DD shots are more than enough)...

OTOH they did scare off equal number of frazi's to flee. Albeit you might arque it was because G'Kar needed to escape but I can't see why they should be total suckers in dogfight...

hmm of course the fluff does not make that at all clear:

Other fighter craft engaging these ships are usually advised to rely on their own agility to evade these devastating blasts and disengage as quickly as possible, leaving the destruction of Shadow fighters to the anti-fighter screens of capital ships

rather than "other fighters are advised to blow them out of the stars without really trying before they get anywhere near ships - unless they have interceptors in which case ignoring them altogether is fine"

At least Vorlon fighters - nearly as bad - have beams......................

presume they did not bother to use them against the Minbari in the great war as that would have been a triffle one sided?
