2500 and 2400 scale comparison!

The Legend

Mongoose
Just Found this on the ADB Facebook. Hope they don't mind me reposting this here but I was just so excited to see something of the mini's! I cannot wait for this game!!!!!!!338288_10150286994428280_231728653279_7589693_4802948_o.jpg

I know these are early - but is it me or does the casting on the 2500 saucer section look a wee bit rough?

Has potential though and looks a hell of a lot better than the old 2400 series.

If it is on FB, feel free to post either a link to it or picture. The more publicity, the better!

I am assuming this is a prototype, also these are supposed to be cast in resin. Unless they've changed their minds regarding this.

I was hoping for the detail on the saucer to be a little more subtle than the current model indicates. I'm not disappointed though. I've wanted to get into Fed Commander for ages and I have played ACTA:B5 loads and still have my fleet. I like the way this is looking, A LOT! :D

From what I have gathered from haunting the ADB boards, the excessively deep lines in the saucer are a known issue and there have been discussions about them. The example is probably a prototype of some sort, probably easier to cast prototypes in metal than resin.

Are there any pics of the models that have been sold as early previews? I've seen commenst about the air holes being in odd places, would be good to see what folks are talking about.

Wow, that is poor quality. You sold these?

No, we have not. Really, that picture was never intended for public viewing.

Wow - it is amazing how much stuff "never intended for public viewing" end up as public viewing (and I have the scars to prove it (almost got lynched at a public meeting because of someone leaking))

The model has a lot of potential and I am looking forward to some "real" spoilers.

They would be gifted - the only models sold (a literal handful at Gen Con) were metal - and so could not have air holes!

Air holes? Perhaps the holes where the metal was poured into the mold was meant? I suppose resin miniature molds are different, do you spin those as you do with metal molds?

Metal is spun and poor models ussually go back in the pot to be recast. thats were quality standards come in. plastic is injected if i remember correctly dont know about resin but have been out of the biz for quite a while.

Here is a comparision between the Mongoose CA and the original Starline CA:

Are they abandoning the twin red lines around the saucer on the paint schemes now then?

A god comparison shot, to be honest - also shows off the level of detail quite nicely...

If that's one of your own minis, any chance of a closeup?

My favourite ship model - the New Light Cruiser (NCL)... I picked up a whole load of miscasts with these in 2400, but will happily be replacing them in 2500 (for the curious, the deflector dishes were miscast, the rest of the ship was fine).

Being an all-in-one cast, it's a good, solid, ship too... meaning it'd take a beating from being transported around... never used one in a game, though...

Edit: I think you'll find that the Fed ships will be tumbling through the process now - with the basic saucers and nacelles done, they tend to keep one of a few standard sizes throughout the Fed fleet, while the saucers remain roughly the same with minor differences.

Okay I am confused now in this thread http://forum.mongoosepublishing.com/viewtopic.php?f=103&t=48043&start=375

Iain McGhee says that the scale for ACTA:SF is 1/3125 scale but in this Thread it's 1/2500 so I would like to know what scale the ACTA:Models will be in please.

Cheers

The name of the line is Starline 2500 and does not reflect the scale. (Previous lines have been 2200, 2300, and 2400). Does that help?
