2300 - A Request

This isnt a duplication of the 2300 thread, but a proviso. In the same way that I prefer not to have to refer to the Runequest rulesbook when playing MRQ Slaine, please, please, if you are doing 2300, make it STAND ALONE!

2300 is a great idea. Id love it, Id buy it. BUT, I have decided not to buy Traveller. With so many great games around, I cant buy them all, so I have to pick and choose, thinking about what, as a group, we can get around to playing. Dont get me wrong, Traveller was great, Ive had great times playing Traveller. But that was then, this is now, and I dont want to have to buy the Traveller rulebook to play 2300.

I dislike the 'generic'-rule-book-with-background-later way of doing things. I want a complete 2300 rulebook, and I dont want to have to buy the Traveller rulebook to play it. We know its a slippery slope. 'Ah, if you want to play 2300, you need the Traveller rulebook, the 2300 setting book, and probably, the Scouts book. And maybe, the Patrons II book thats coming out in January.' NO, NO, NO! I just want to play 2300!

Ah, well maybe I'll buy Traveller as well, I don't know, but I don't want to HAVE to buy it to play something else.

Rant over. Just my two bits.

Sorry to say but it would be smarter for Mongoose Pub if they were to do the 2300 Traveller, to create a source book like all the others they have or plan on doing and simply use the Traveller Core book too.

There is far to much to cover in 2300, to skip the Core Traveller rules and get right to the target resource materials. Now I love Traveller very much and have bought everything published so far and also pre-ordered all the yet to be published things as well too. For me I need to have it all and plan on it.

It will specifically be a sourcebook for Mongoose Traveller, not a stand-alone product. You know, should such a thing ever come out...

Well, nothing been signed, so nothing is set. Everyone wants to do this, it's just a matter of finding time.
