2020 Releases

It looks like The Glorious Empire, Aliens of Charted Space Volume 2 and The Solomani Front are due for PDF release in the final quarter of the year with print copies in 2021.

The bad news is 2300 is pushed out to March 2021.

It's too bad 2300 is pushed back till early next year but the volume of regular Traveller stuff coming up makes up for that! Any idea what Skandersvik is?

Can anyone in the know comment what aliens are described in Aliens of Charted Space Volume 1 and Aliens of Charted Space Volume 2? Also, what's The Solomani Front - it sounds like it could either be an adventure or a Solomani sourcebook, which is it?

Skandersvik: What started off as a new range of Sword Worlds Adventures turned into a complete campaign. Written by Martin Dougherty, this campaign serves as a perfect launch for a Sword Worlders campaign.

Aliens of Charted Space Vol. 1: Covering the Aslan, Zhodani, Vargr and K’kree, this book updates these aliens for the current edition and will serve as a platform for delving deeper into them during future projects.

We are also going to try to do Aliens of Charted Space Vol. 2, though that is a little more of a stretch – this volume will bring the rest of the major races up to date, being the Solomani, Hivers, and Droyne.

Hivers and Droyne!!! I'm really looking forward to this book!

Those are 2 of my 3 favorite aliens (the 3rd being the Vegans, who I hope will someday get MT2e chargen info).

You will find the Vegans in the Solomani Front, which also covers the Solomani Rim and Alpha Crucis sectors (same format as Behind the Claw). However, Vegans may also get a more detailed look in within Aliens of Charted Space Volume 3...

What happened to the Secrets of the Ancients for 2nd Edition? Is that now further out, i.e. next year some time?

Cheers

Just waiting for a slot in the schedule - as soon as one opens up, it will swoop in!

Excellent news.

In what way will the description of the Aslan from PoD Volume 2 differ from the one offered in Aliens of Charted Space Vol. 1?

It won't - there was a bit of a discussion about that on these forums way back when, and the general consensus seemed to be that we should compile the Aslan into this volume rather than just leave them in the Pirates of Drinax. Basically, the first two volumes will then give you all the major races (we increased the size of the first volume to accommodate this, but will not increase the price).

Crap, so 2300AD is postponed again! I was so waiting for the new 2300AD this year, but gladly it's not being cancelled and will (hopefully) be released in early 2021.

Happy to see the two Alien books for Traveller being released this year (in PDF). The Vilani seem to be the odd one out of the Major Races and don't get a detailed description in those two books.

Pushing 2300AD was not a happy choice, but this year is something of a juggling act in terms of layout and art if we are to fit everything in and get various sub-lines prepped for next year (such as the FFW and expansion of Solomani material, among other things). In the very least we should be able to start layout and design on 2300AD this year, so fingers crossed for some previews before Christmas and the release just shortly after!

I understand, 2020 has been a harsh year so far for just about everyone. You have plenty of Traveller goodness in the pipe and being released this year, so all is well on that front. Also, you've pretty much kept Traveller afloat for the past years with quality books, so a big thank you from an old grognard who likes to gripe, but who is inwardly very happy that Traveller is still going strong - in some ways even more so than, well, since the late 80's even...

Good to here, there will be no new material on the Aslan in the Aliens volume. I'm also lookinig forward to the Glorious Empurr [couldn't resist] book. I will take the Pirates of Drinax there. I have planned for one of the former romantic interests of our captain to be a (former) slave of that realm. That should tie in nicely with 'Exodus'.

Just a bump on this. Is there any word on the development of a new Robots book as well? And on a related note, will there be some development on bringing more biotech and A.I. into the 2300A setting when it gets released?
