2 potential errors in Pirates of Drinax

I've spotted 2 potential Errors in The Supplements for Pirates of Drinax. Here they are. What do you think?

The 1st is that on The Floating Palace Life Events Table A roll of A 6 then A 2nd 6 says you discover you are The Bastard Son of King Oleb but its possible for A Female to roll that event. Why?

The 2nd is that in 1st edition the Book 5 Supplement says that Vallis commands 8 Ships but in 2nd edition the bit on adventure 5 says that Vallis commands 20 Ships. Which numbers right?

1) Just badly put. In that case they'd be a bastard daughter.
2) Generally, newer material would supplant older. You could instead interpret it that they have 20 ships, of which 8 are significant and the others are minor (and thus not counted in the earlier book), such as small craft.

In that case the female is forced to take the gender reassignment DNA modification as Oleb wanted a son.

I've never seen this mentioned in any official Traveller materials. Is it a condition of the license or something? MWM's opinion on it seems clear from his novel. (edit: Sure there's a complete new body available at TLs well beyond 15, but a specialised human DNA gender swap should be available at or below TL 15?).

The DNA modifications are in 2300AD.

One of the great breakthroughs of 22nd Century medical technology was the development of DNA Modification (DNAM) technology. Originally created as a means of curing genetic disorders, DNAMs use tailored retroviruses that rewrite the genetic code of a mature individual.
