    Tracking ships

true. I had forgotten about that. Quick tangent... is it possible to Jump but not go anywhere? Like, intentionally enter Jump space for a week and pop out exactly where you left? If you needed to hide or protect something for a week that could be an effective way to do it.

    Active Duty Scout standard issue

I’ve been trying to collect information for an active duty Scouts adventure and wanted to consult with the brain trust here since I’m still quite new to Traveller (started with Mongoose 2E) and I’ve found that there is a lot of gold hidden in previous editions you guys reference which I know...

    Singularity - musings

To keep thinks as on track as possible by having all the same events occur, give travellers a reason to Trust Naalir AND give INI a reason to pursuit the Travellers I suggest we ignore 1 line from the end of Act 1 "While Naalir informs the Travellers about what it is going on in the vault of the...

    Tracking ships

While not impossible, I think tracking a ship in jump, even with the tools mentioned above, is hardly routine or setting breaking. - In the description of Jump filters it states that "a ship must be previously detected and its jump witnessed" - In both the description of jump Filters AND the...

Advice on running a mercenary campaign/running unit combat

The mercenary rules are widely considered to be... not the best thing Mongoose has ever put out. Personally, I would suggest you and your group decide what you want out of the game narratively and whether it could be run with the standard Traveller rules on on the individual level with the...

    Ask MongooseMatt ANYTHING!!!

it sounded like the rule Matt said needed removing was "that Mongoose has us tracking 2t per airlock" so, if anything, it would be making airlocks free completely. not removing any of the free stuff.

Armies of the Fifth Frontier War, Impressions Not Errata

A big part of the Opening Moves adventure is that there is a whole Imperial movement dedicated to ensuring the biggest and best equipped forces are present where they could best protect Mora rather than where they could best be used by a coherent war plan to actually stop the Zhos

Armies of the Fifth Frontier War, Impressions Not Errata

I've never had the chance to play (or even read the rules) but from what I've seen the game seems like it was a lot of fun. At least for a few games. Would be cool if there was a VTT version which could properly enforce Fog of War / communication issues. Even a Play-by-Post game where actual...

    Traveller Release Schedule 2025

Cluster Truck (working title...): For centuries the Truckers have kept the worlds of the Estuary Cluster connected. Long years, hard years, but proud years. Trucking is a way of life, even if it ends with a Trucker’s Wake. Now the corporate shipping lines want to take over the spacelanes...

Armies of the Fifth Frontier War, Impressions Not Errata

ok everybody, I think we're all in agreement on the following facts: 1. Soldiers with TL-12 are not going to be much help in a straight fight against TL-14/15 soldiers. 2. The 3I is capable of providing equipment of TL-15 to the Imperial Army if / when it so desires. (With enough desire or...

Armies of the Fifth Frontier War, Impressions Not Errata

yea... I was looking at the slug weapon section so temporarily forgot that was a thing that already existed.

    Ask MongooseMatt ANYTHING!!!

I'm in complete agreement with regards to how ridiculous and impractical that would be. Best solution, to solve the problem we were trying to address, would simply be to put a line in the description of cockpits that for purposes of requirements, a cockpit should count as an airlock.

    Ask MongooseMatt ANYTHING!!!

if they closed off the internal doors to the Bridge and crew quarters, then would the rest of the main body of the ship be considered an airlock for purposes of this example about entering into the ship via a hatch?

Armies of the Fifth Frontier War, Impressions Not Errata

here is a question I will pose for those of you better are creating things from scratch better than I. Besides cost, would there be any mechanical benefit to manufacturing TL-12 equipment at TL-15? Basically, an assault rifle made and designed in 2025 would perform better than one made in 1920...

    Ask MongooseMatt ANYTHING!!!

if the cockpit pressurizes when the pilot is inside, then the cockpit IS the airlock. If the cockpit remains unpressurized, then the flight suit is the airlock. I read "for every 500 tons" to represent the band between 1ton-500tons and then 501tons to 1000tons to REQUIRE a 2nd airlock...
