    2300AD Update

No color? Not a problem. Hey, that will mean it gets off of the presses faster, right? Maybe in time for the holidays?

    Miniatures and Supplements

These days, if I were to go "big", I'd buy my minis from both Infinity and Antenociti's Workshop. http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/ http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/ Sure, they aren't exactly styled in the traditional Traveller fashion, but that's okay because these minis look so...

I have faith in you Colin. I'm sure you've done a great job. Can't wait!

    Miniatures and Supplements

Sure they could work, but if you want to maintain the Traveller flavor you'd have to weed out a bunch of the obviously SW figures. Unless, of course, you want a Traveller Universe that mirrors aspects of SW, in which case you are good to go. Fwiw, I just finished painting 53 15mm minis (for...

    2300AD Update

If we could judge a book by its cover win have a winner, that's for sure. But please, please take the extra time to weed out the mistakes on the inside.

    Miniatures and Supplements

I don't know of anyone producing Traveller minis in 25/28 at the moment, but they have been done in the past, and you can usually find them on ebay. Pics of Grenadier's Traveller minis can be found here. As mentioned, traditional Traveller scale was 15mm, and RAFM currently makes the old...

    traveller miniatures

For those into 15mm scifi, there's no better blog than Dropship Horizon. Were I to do a 28mm sf game, I'd probably go with a bunch of Governance of Technology figures.

    Prime Directive Traveller

I thank the gaming gods that I still have all my FASA Trek 15mm deckplans. That's what I'll be using.

Why not just be a pirate?

The same is true today. The Somali pirates aren't even a drop in the bucket, and they are no where near as powerful as the Barbary Pirates were. As I mentioned elsewhere, I've been studying pirates for decades now. Last year I had the good fortune to get my employer to send me to the U.S. Naval...

Why not just be a pirate?

Using the 3I also gives us a frame of reference that we can all work from.

Why not just be a pirate?

Relevant, because the amount the U.S. spends is obviously not the kind of money that will be spent by system "Joe Average" in "Backwater" subsector.

Why not just be a pirate?

How other countries compare to the US in terms of defense spending. I think the US is an outlier. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_military_expenditures

Why not just be a pirate?

Exactly my point. Add in some piracy on a megacorporation level, and there will be plenty of people willing to outfit a ship, or turn a blind eye, or pat someone on the back (or knight them) for messing up a rival, etc.

Why not just be a pirate?

Do you have a reference for this? If so, I'd like to read it. I've spent far more time than I care to admit studying piracy in the so-called Golden Age, and this is the first time I recall reading this. One of the big differences is the fact that you can't pull your starship into a secluded...

Why not just be a pirate?

I'm trying to think of one. Given time, I probably can. One did that come to mind doesn't exactly fit the model you are citing, i.e., Captain Kidd. The circumstances of his acts of "piracy", translated to space, would make for an interesting rpg campaign. I've read these Traveller piracy...
