    As I understand it, yes, he could use the extra CA for spellcasting. The reasoning is that the defensive advantage from the shield, or at least the possibility of one, gives you more time/opportunity to accomplish things in a combat round.

    SIZ Comparison.

    From the Brawn skill (page 36): "As a mass equivalent, 1 point of SIZ equals, roughly, 5 kilograms." I suppose that is the 'official' RQII stance, hope that helps.

    Well, by the RAW you do have to declare a parry before the attack roll is made, just if the attack misses you can choose not to parry and save the CA. A slight difference, but it may be important at some point.
