Central Supply Catalogue -- Thoughts and reviews?

I bought this and pretty much put it away until Fridays game. Read much of it today. I *really* like the new combat gear and options, with a few exceptions. Some stuff came immediately in handy in Friday's game. I was running Chimera (a T20/mileu 993 adventure set on a water world), and the...

Spycraft Pocket - Color or B/W

Yeah, I guess if you missed the full size second printing, that'd be a step up. FWIW, the final round of full sized second printing (after Mongoose gave up printing themselves) is very nice. It has a textbook binding and lays open without difficulty or damage to the book.

Has anyone ever run a one-shot game?

I've run two different con/gameday adventures intended as one-shots. I pull from the events in my larger (home) campaign as fodder, but don't really read to much into the continuity unless it's convenient or entertaining for me to do so. One adventure "A Fistful of Credits" has the PCs...

    Murders and Mysteries

Yep, I've done MoAS (though not in MongT yet) and other murder mysteries. The jumpspace scenario is great for a "we're all trapped here with the murderer/orient express" type of setup.

    So I finally gave in...

I know. Some people are just that way though. I could name names, but my mamma taught me that's not polite. :)

How many people think GURPS Traveller is canon?

I'm not sure what the meaning of canon is other than argument points for deciding who wins internet arguments. If the question really boils down to "do I give GT primacy when it comes to forming a baseline for running games in the OTU", then no, I do not. I think some rules stuff for GURPS is...

    So I finally gave in...

In some circles, those are fighting words. CT's a great game and I had a lot of fun with it (and really, still do, as I pull out CT material and use it with MongT). But it was built from the ground up, so many of the features that came later in CT are folded into later versions of the game with...

    So I finally gave in...

Good to hear. Was afraid the voices of reason my be drowned out by the CT purists over at CotI. Now, when are you going to ship my adventures? ;)

    Tips for players

Refuel first. Really. PGMPs hurt. Skills are your best tools in traveller. Friendly NPCs are wandering toolkits.

Need inspiration for a galactic menace

That reminds me of the villains of the short story "Second Night of Summer" by James H. Schmitz (which is in the short story collection "The Good Old Stuff" by Dozois.) In short, the race pokes through and is more or less harmless and powerless until they pull a machine through, which causes...

Need inspiration for a galactic menace

Well, there's Berserkers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berserker_(Saberhagen)) or similar variants (like the Inhibitors in Alastair Reynolds' Revelations Space universe): implacable beings with the mission of wiping out intelligent life. The idea has a lot of play in literary SF circles, but...

    Andromeda Traveller

This is something I bounced around for a while. My final conclusion: the setting and setup is very Traveller. But the action is very HERO/Feng Shui/M&M. The main combats are hand to hand fisticuffs between superbeings.

    Psion Preview?

Oh, irony. In other parts of the intarweb, some fools argue vociferously that psionics is SF, not fantasy. When I ran Traveller for my old group with the intent of running a straight up SF game with no psionics, there was one player used to more standard magical RPG fare could not seek...

    Thanks

O rly? Starfall is the one cluster/area book I missed. What makes it worse, unlike Mesugard, I actually have had and will have games happening in that area.
