What Setting For Traveller the Movie

One idea I always had was kinda an alernate early Solomani period. The alternate part stems from the fact that the Vilani Empire had already sufferred an internal collapse and pulled out of the Solomani sector before the Terrans built their Jump drive. After the first interstellar war with a...

Newb questions (skill increase, campaign musings)

Where to start? I always assumed the maps were projections of 3d space onto a 2d map to show the most important thing..Jump range. If anyone asks about the geometry of the situation I justify it as the way the drive works and if they were planning on going teh distance STL I'd get back to them...

    Questions regarding Grav technology

Yeah thats the question In theory there isn't a place with no gravity, just places where the gradient is more or less steep. On the other tentacle (So whens the Hiver sourcebook coming out?) I get the impression the M-Drive of shps/boats isn't wholly gravitic and is a reactionless drive which...

[JBE] Contest - Name this Ship

Other names Arrow (it looks pointy) Misericorde (it still looks pointy and think of the advertisements) Rapier (if it's an interceptor) Usually I name ships to a theme based on the manufacturer - what are teh other ships that rown Industries is selling called?

    Trading income

Normally any loan on a mobile assett will include some comprehensive insurance (including theft and w/o) as a condition, I've also seen default and employment insurance being required to make the deal less risky for the bank. I always thought that Traveller included an "Under the Table"...

    Cryo Sleep campaign for Traveller

Sounds fun 2.5 times the size of earth (assuming your talking radius) means 1.25G at the surface (assuming stimilar density) - you could get a few ideas out of that (medical emergencies, colonists having to go home again, development of space based habs). Whats the speed of the interstellar...

    Larry Niven's Known Space

Another idea for a traveller suppliment is the Wing Commander universe lots of potential for adventure during and afer the war, Aslan-related race for the major baddy's during the war. Just ignore the POS movie that used the names and almost nothing else.

    2000AD - Flesh

Flesh is a great idea for a suppement! I remember it well from the early 2000AD's. Whats best is it works for both JD and normal Traveller (I actually based a foodworld around the flesh idea in the heavily modified Traveller universe I'm setting up)

    Dredd: Getting Started!

For some reason I always liked the idea of Mo-pad's and wreckers. I'd be very tempted to have the judges start on traffic duty and witness a mo-pad piracy (anotehr mo-pad drives up, down go the boarding planks and the pirates weilding long knives, spit guns and baseball bats yelling "Yaaar, me...

    Starship Flight Controls?

yeah, Another point to consider is how manual is manual control Even these comparitively low tech days.... Most Fighters and a few modern airliners are Fly by Wire/Fly by Fibre where the pilot gives an input and the plane then figures out how to do what he wants Airbus has said that as a...

    Starship Flight Controls?

Galactic Patrol (E E Smith 1930-something) had the ships attitude (or course)controlled by a big ball and all the drives and attitude jets controlled by a keyboard that described as like a pipe organ (double banked piano keyboard). Always amazes me how some of his ideas worked out.

    Kafers in MGT

Eh, It might be a country thing. I remember when 2300 was new out and I was explaining the setting to my gaming group, 6 out of 6 people recognised the South African term (one guy asked if it was a South African expedition that made contact) I'm in Australia, I'd believe that most of the people...

    The ancients in your campaigns.

Twilights peak was the first adventure of CT to have an ancient base (one of my old favorites) Personally I never liked Grandfather (or the Droyne for that matter) - I went the Ancients route along the lines of Forsters Humanx universe, where there were several precursors at varying times and...
