The soft cover bullet point should be changed from cover against melee attacks to cover against ranged attacks. The Conan rule is identicle to the 3.5 D&D rule, and that rule was errata'd from "melee" to "ranged."
I read it. I don't see it. The BPP is 4 + Wisdom modifier. If your Wisdom modifier increases, so does your BPP. It's not like your BPP is static. It increases by level, too.
If Wisdom is increased, why wouldn't your BPP increase? With the exception of retroactive skill points, every time your abilities increase or decrease, the corresponding abilities that depend upon them increase or decrease.
Look at the Swim skill itself? Not a bad idea. I see that the skill is 3.5, but what about all those -1 per 5 pounds statements under Weapon and Armor Proficiencies for each class? That was the source of my question. I plan to run it like the skill says (3.5 D&D) rather than -1 per 5 pounds.
Perhaps you can answer a question, then. One of the 3e holdovers I noticed in Conan was the -1 penalty to Swim checks per 5 pounds of gear carried. Why was the 3.5 version not used (penalty is twice armour check penalty)?
Where Conan and D&D use the same rules, it is the 3.5 version that is used, AFAICT. For example, Conan uses the 3.5 Survival and Sleight of Hand rather than the 3e Wilderness Lore and Pick Pocket. The Skill Focus feat is +3 instead of +2. The combat action types use the 3.5 texts (note the...
Didn't Mongoose Paul clarify that massive damage actually kills you (drops your hp to -10) if you fail your Fort save unless you spend a fate point to be left for dead?
Edit: Slaughterj beat me to it.
The second paragraph under Cover says to use the ranged rules for determining cover when you make a melee attack against someone not adjacent to you (when using a reach weapon, for example). So yes, if you attack an opponent with a reach weapon, and a creature stands between you, your opponent...
Soft Cover here is the same as in the 3.5 PH (pg. 151). However, the PH version has been officially errata'd. It says, "Creatures, even your enemies, can provide you with cover against ranged attacks, giving you a +4 bonus to AC." The errata deletes "melee" and inserts "ranged." Perhaps this...
