I only carcely had access to the internet recently and now what do I read? A 3rd ed. of ActA? From the last 4 pages I conclude the following:
- B5 dropped in favour of another unknown setting(licence costs from WB?)
- inclusion of a point system
- new models
- weakening of criticals
- a system...
'Cause I invested money in this game an thought that 2nd Ed would be an improvement. Then miniature production was terminated. And now I come back, read about a playtest pack and all I see are new things for all fleets instead of fixing existing problems. I want to play this game and want really...
Keep that rubbish! That's was my opinion concering P&P. If you think that it'll be ok, fine. But old problems like ship/fleet balance and redicilous crits don't go away if you just add some things that are "cool".
Dispite P&P, ActA is IMO quite dead and the book will change nothing as problems are not resolved but only "cool things for everyone" added. Sad thing to see the B5 license tossed away this way.
Things I urgently want to have fixed:
1. alternative for the initiative system to remove ini-sinks
An idea of mine:
2. make larger ships more viable/ criticals less destructive than presently
3. somehow change those boresight and boresight aft, the rule is horrible and I don't think any...
This ini-system is from Helldorado? Never knew that as the system is basicly dead in my area.
Why would it be unfair? ActA presently favours small ships so why not simply make them less usefull?
As a Drazi player myself, I know what problems might occur. Perhaps making prefixed squadrons also...
I don'tknow if this is the right threat for this but some people here came up with an alternative for the initiative system.
What would be if someone with fewer ships would be able to pass his movement until he and his opponent have the same number of unmoved ships left? So a fleet with 5...
One question. Do I get it right that I now no longer have to bother with the regular Chronos and can instead take the Escort variant every single time? I mean, it still has the railgun and the pulse cannons were already rarely used because of CBD.
Made game now with the test rules. The feeling is ok, but... meh doesn't really work.
I was more often dice rolling than ever due to having beam, twin linked and then rerolling all misses. This shouldn't be so and slows the game considerably down. At least the game was short. I wasn't able to...
Some thoughts about the Narn changes:
Special order too good. Easy to pull of an 4+ save. Makes many smaller vessels even better.
G'Vrahn: A bit down tuning was needed, but not that much. Now one will rather play 4 Var'Nic or Dag'Kar. The G'Vrahn is now on par with the Bin'Tak, meaning it is...
I will try to playtest the new special action this Friday so some questions came up my mind:
1. Rerolling all misse: For beams, ok. But what about those masses of twin-linked weapons?
a) Do I first roll AD, then reroll all hits and then reroll all misses due to twin-linked?
b) Roll all AD...
I don't believe it. How often were we told that new releases would come and what we got was the news that the mini-line was discontinued. Mr. Sprange has to tell much more than this that I will believe him ever again.
Completely overhaul the Abbai. I bought a fleet box prior to 2nd Ed. and thought that it would get better. I was dissappointed. My fleet is always pounded to death at range while closing in. 8" is too less, lumbering is makes it even worse on the Bimith what should technically be a front line...
