    Excel Ship Designer v2026.01.22

I'm staring at page 70 of my 2022 version of HG and that's the intro to customizing ships. Page 71 has M-Drives and the only advantages listed are "Energy Efficient" and "Size Reduction." However, the handy-dandy index to ship design and equipment that Hardwire posted says it is found in the...

    GENCON 25 and Traveller

All Traveller GENCON events sold out within the first 2.5 hours following registration opening up. In reality, they probably sold out faster. Alien, Star Trek Adventures, and Blade Runner had similar performance--selling out rapidly--to include two large games of 40+ players (one each for STA...

    GENCON 25 and Traveller

Here are the GENCON offerings for SF RPGs without digging into FATE, GURPS, and Savage Worlds listings to see which events are SF oriented.

    GENCON 25 and Traveller

If the set-up is the same this year, you'll want to follow the map for the vendor hall to locate Studio 2. The Traveller items were _not_ next to the aisle and were separated from the aisle by a 1/2 height bookshelf (and bodies milling about behind it). You can get to the Mongoose items but...

    GENCON 25 and Traveller

I brought this up last year. The number of Traveller offerings is very small compared to Alien, Blade Runner, and Star Trek Adventures. Let's not even talk about [retching sound] Starfinder. I offered to run two sessions through the Lurking Fears GM group. They run a majority of the Traveller...

    GENCON 25 and Traveller

The event list just dropped today for GENCON '25. So, there's a ~75% increase in Traveller game sessions over last year...to 13. I offered to do to for Lurking Fears, and even confirmed time slots with them, but the events don't show-up. Checking on that. Anyhow, here's the list:

    Tariffs and You (Mongoose edition)

Be careful what you ask for. There are some facets of our system here in the U.S. (the Electoral College for starters) that tend to skew things a bit. What no one here on the putative right foresaw, I think, was how quickly the swing in foreign policy would be. You folks in the UK are facing a...

Ship cost reduction as TL increases?

When you get right down to it, the Germans and the Russians both really got a start with the Spanish Civil War. But the counter-offensive in front of Moscow in '41 looked eerily like Trindafillov and Tukachevksy's concept of an operation, and then Uranus kicks off in November of '42, 17 months...

Ship cost reduction as TL increases?

. That's an excerpt from Mike Doubler's excellent book, Closing with the Enemy: How GIs Fought the War in Europe, 1944-1945. So, I'm not going to dispute that the Germans, on a soldier-for-soldier level, managed about a 4:1 kill ratio during the first part of the war, and were still...

True. Mules got a lot of use in Italy. The Commandant at the JFK school was getting ready to eliminate sending guys to the mule skinner course when 9/11 happened, and then quickly discovered the school was needed for supporting ops in Afghanistan.

Ship cost reduction as TL increases?

The U.S. Army was the most mechanized force during the war. When you look at the Corps-level subordinate units there were a LOT of transport battalions at that level.
