As big a fan as I am of the classic Traveller campaign, I'd be just as interested in a military themed one - mainly because I've never played one before.

I'm flexible, of course, but have a soft spot in my heart (head?) for old school tramp freighter full of misanthropes with hearts of gold who do good deeds against their better judgement and somehow manage a slim profit now and again.

That is literally the only reference to it, too. No other table gives it as a benefit, and no further mention of it is made anywhere else in my PDF of it at any rate.

Maybe replace hit points by location and hit locations with the BRP style "Major Wound" concept, and making PCs and major NPCs sturdier by assigning them CON+SIZ hit points, while lower levels have (CON+SIZ)/2, and mooks fall to any hit that does more than 1 point of damage.

If you as a GM have assigned the results, or you as the player have had the results thrust upon you, of a failed sanity check, sure, I could see being a bit put out by that. But if you've a good GM, the result requires a consultation with the player. What can we have happen, you and I together...

I hope to never have to tell a player how he has to run his character. But I'm sure as heck okay with telling him that, based on a roll, this is the general overall result, and letting him role play the results.

Here I assumed you were talking about bolting on the Sanity rules from Call of Cthulhu. Or are they one in the same? If not, you might consider them as well.
