    It makes sense to play it this way as Fires really are not stacking they are new fires created and are not systems such as props and such.

    We do the later. Drop the speed and then halve it. So 1.5" would be correct.

    Question on critical hits..

    I understand that if you have turbine damaged and props damaged and get another critical hit on a subsequent attack on one of those systems that the speed would not drop more as the systems are already damaged (ie it would stay at -2). What we play though, is you would still suffer extra damage...

    Even though the rules say that special effects do not stack how would this work if lets say on a subsequent attack I get a Multiple fires result again. Would you just ignore the result since you already got it? I see issues with fire, multiple fires, and multiple explosions..seems like they...

    Yes, fires are treated seperate from Damage Control in a seperate section of the rules titled Fires (See page 10). On page 9 it says you cannot repair Vital Systems using Damage Control but it excludes fires. Hence you cannot repair the vital system (ie explosions) but you can put out the fire...
