I read this, and realized that I assumed that taxes were included in the purchase cost of equipment items. I think I'll assume that taxes are included on speculative trade results, as well.

I always figured that the m drive has inertial compensation, and some anti grav lifters like a grav vehicle does, so that it can take off and land from planets with various gravity. The tonnage of the lifters and compensators is subsumed into the tonnage of the drive, and therefore not described.

My thought, and YMMV, is that it would work best as a dispersed structure, so that the ship being worked on can be held at any angle as needed for repairs. If that doesn't appeal, then maybe a close structure with the yard at one end or in the center would work.

For a civilian character, I'd recommend a communication device, a filter/respirator, some sort of cheap eye protection, a hand computer, toolkit and a vacsuit. If they get weapons, then a shotgun, carbine, auto pistol or - pay attention to how that's an "or" - a revolver (if they're feeling...

That's a very large missile, not a starship, though. 😉

For starship combat, it's not worth it unless you're moving very fast, snd it's still not worth it because you wasted millions of credits on a suicide attack. So usually it's best reserved for if you're losing badly, and the other side plans to wipe you out anyways.
