SST - Status of Air units that land

Problems with that: Aircraft attacks work differently then ground attacks (You attack each unit you get within your PBR when making an air attack that way). If you're really worried about losing ripplers, take hoppers. Most MI don't want to see you throwing D10+1 dice against each member of a 5...

SST - Status of Air units that land

That's why you need TWO units of Aircraft  Seriously though. A unit of 3-5 Hoppers (A lot of Bug players take these just for the benefits) and a unit of 3 Ripplers. Move the hoppers onto the board first, then once the MI has charged Yon Droppods across the field, you hit them with the...

SST - Status of Air units that land

Keep in mind the other thing this means is that if you try that the bug player can bring in a squad of Hoppers and do a Charge(Flyby) on you, and potentially see your entire expensive squad go 'splat' before it hits the ground. Especially since doing so means you're dropping RIGHT next to his...

SST - Status of Air units that land

I wrote the rules masters about this one specifically (It's in my thread about Size and LoS) they claim that air units remain air units until the end of the air phase. So AA will get to react to them. It seems perfectly reasonable to me, as it prevents things like the aformentioned Caps dropping...

What points to start an escalation league at?

I went for 750 points... I think 750 to 1000 points is the best place to start, personally. It's usually not all that expensive. Bugs have it the worst but they always have the cost-wise problems... But even so 1000 points is what. 30 warriors, 1 tanker and 1 brain? For a PL2 1000 point force...

    Prefered Priority Level

Ya, it is. It's kindof interesting. I'd have thought that PL1 or 2 would be the most popular for MI... Especially for Exos, since they're so few in number, and a lucky Plasma strike could see half your army evaporate on the bug's first turn!

My Bugs (and MI) (constant pic update)

Neat conversion. Looks like Mutant Smith from the Lost In Space movie. Very cool.

    Prefered Priority Level

So.... I've been doing some thinking on the effective ways to build an army in SST... And I'm wondering, what are people's prefered Priority Level? And why? A brief description of which army(s) you play and why you choose that PL would be cool. Right now I'm kindof leaning towards lower PL...

    Skinny release dates

Hehe. Win with numbers! Teach them the meaning of Lanchester's Square Law! Regroup looks like a nasty ability with that army. 50% chance for failed saves to stay alive anyway  I can only imagine the Leader with this massive unit of 'saved' slaves following him around in every direction...

    Skinny release dates

Actually... I didn't vote yet. I think you can't change it because you voted on it already. Once it registers any votes it can't be changed. I think. Not positive.

    Skinny release dates

Mmm... Ya know, I can't really say I'm looking forward to many of them. Except the Venerable Marauder, cus I wana see how the model turns out in the final rendition (considering how much many other models changed from first concept art!). But most of the Skinnies stuff I really wana own is...

    Spider Bug Model

He'd get +2 to his armor save, at the least. For being inside 'hard' cover. But he'd count as being S5 for LoS purposes (4 from terrain 1 from natural height). So, yes, the MI could fire on him theoretically... But good luck actually hurting him!

    Spider Bug Model

Sounds like the best route to go for for Spiders would be changing them to Jump 10" or something. They're still fragile, but they can go from out of reaction range to melee range in a single move. Very nasty, but anyone they fail to kill is gonna chew on them like cheap bubble gum. Especially...

    Spider Bug Model

Bugs have 'solutions to every problem' down pat. It's just their solutions are often times very specific to the problem in question. And rarely useful beyond that problem in major ways... Using just one type of specialist bug is unlikely to be particularly good. Just like if you were to play an...

    Spider Bug Model

Keep in mind that Guards are usually supposed to be attached to Brains, and would thus (i'm guessing) benefit from the Brain's subterrainian ability. Without the Brain or Queen guiding them, they're lost under ground just as easily as any other non-burrowing species of bugs.
