    [HOUSE RULES] Combat

The answer was in my first statement : he loses his next CA (which could be his first CA during the following round).

    [HOUSE RULES] Combat

I won't follow you this way, RosenMcStern. I can understand that you feel frustrated that your own rules weren't acclaimed, but you don't need to be aggressive.

    [HOUSE RULES] Combat

I didn't change the definition of a reaction. I just used the tem Combat Action to say "the time between the current combat action and the next". I should probably rename it "segment" or "turn" or something like that. See above.

    [HOUSE RULES] Combat

Here are the rules I plan to playtest next saturday. Combat is resolved with the Updated combat matrix, but is not an opposed roll. Each time a character gets a Combat Action he also gets a Reaction. A character may only use one reaction per combat action. Each time a defender uses his...

    What's new in Deluxe?

Probably because your rules are different from those I've suggested. Mine use the combat matrix as is except for the Reaction that the defender spares if he succeeds whereas the attack is a "natural" failure (before being demoted because of the higer dodge/parry). Hence there is not "partial...

    What's new in Deluxe?

I think there are some ways to fix that. For example, you could say that if the defender's Dodge/Parry succeds whereas the attacker's roll fails, the defender keeps his Reaction. This way, a highly skilled defender could use more Reactions against low-skilled ennemies. Of course, this system...

    What's new in Deluxe?

I share your opinion on that matter. Here's one way to solve the problem : Whenever both attack and dodge/parry succeed, consider that there is a tie if there are less than 10 points between the two die rolls (instead of both die rolls giving the same result).

    Dodge/Parry

Thank you Gamesmeister :) That brings another question : is it a "failed parry" or a "failed dodge"? In the latter case, the defender is forced to Give Ground, but not in the former. I know, I've got silly questions

    Dodge/Parry

I mean : attacks are opposed checks, and the result depends on both the attack roll and the dodge/parry roll. If the defender cannot take a reaction, he cannot roll. Then how do you decide the result of the attack ?

    Dodge/Parry

The Player's Update PDF really clarifies the Dodge/Parry rules, but I still have a question (sorry if has already been answered elswhere) : what happens when the defender has alreay used all his Reactions and cannot dodge or parry ?

    Conan and Cthulhu

I've used Deep Ones on nameless islands of the Vilayet (some of them interbreeding with the Yuetshi), some ancient idols of Chaugnar Faghn in the Rabirian Mountains), tcho-tcho tribes in the Himelians, and various other horrors burrowed from CoC. Indeed, it is very easy to use Call of Cthulhu...

    Hyborian or not?

I was about to tell you to visit Vincent Darlage's website, where he did a wonderful job converting Conan and Red Sonja to the d20 System (with detailed background), but it seems to be offline for now : http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/hosted/adilbrand/conan.htm

    Nordheim Campaign

Well actually I was thinking of a band of PCs from other kingdoms, not nordheimer. That's why mentioned the weather as a "potential adversary". And of course, I didn't mean to use the environment to kill them outright, just to add some flavour to the adventure by showing them that dangers can...

    Nordheim Campaign

In a Nordheim campaign, the main enemies should be the weather and the terrain. If you look at the environment rules in the SRD, you'll see that surviving in ice cold landscapes can be much of a challenge for 3rd-lvl heroes. Add some vanir raiders, polar bears, wolves and other ape men, and your...
