New downloads: Flight from the Dark solo adventure and rules

Excellent! I've already notified the players in my online game, and have posted the link on another RPG community website as well! :D

Is it me or are the darklord stats WAY off?

I recall having my butt handed to me a few times by Haakon as well in Book 5, and I had decent CS and END stats. That CS 28 and END 40 (?) can get pretty tough if you go into the final battle badly wounded (say, by the Crypt Spawn)...

    elves in magnamund

I'd rather not see Elves introduced into the official gameverse as well. They're not canon to the World of Lone Wolf gamebooks series, the Companion, and hopefully not Mr. Dever's notes... ...well, at least I hope they're not in the notes...

    Warriors Of Magnamund

Since the characters in my online game are still very low level (1-3, currently), the rule of thumb I follow is: Keep the NPC character levels as low as possible to present the PCs a challenge, not an overwhelming hostile force, or - if a friendly NPC - not overshadow the PCs. The most recent...

    Drakkarim Facial Features

Well...IIRC...according to Grant <hack, spit!> Drakkarim are s'posed to be unnaturally handsome under them skull masks. In the gamebooks, not much is said so much about their features..in earlier books, it appears they can pass for a Sommlending human (per the encounter Lone Wolf has with one...

Sommelending Royal Guard and Guard Captain D'Val

I pretty much run my campaign using a combination of the Magnamund Companion and the Core Rules, and the gamebooks themselves for specific descriptions of individual locales. However, a lot of the information from the Companion is in the Core Rulebook, and Darklands supplements I've noted, so...

    Counterspell question

Thanks much. That's what I had concluded as well...

    Warriors Of Magnamund

For the moment, I'm using combinations of the Warrior template - along with other non-heroic Classes - as the basis for all the various warrior classes. Straight Warrior for Mercenaries, Shadakine, and Vassa - with nationality feats taken into account. Warrior - with some D&D feats and...

    Did Toran Fall In 5050?

...oh yeah, I think I'd like to modify one of my statements... it is reasonable to assume Vonotar was at least a Wizard - perhaps higher - as Banedon does tell Lone Wolf in Book 1 that Vonotar killed one of the elders...IIRC.

    Counterspell question

Does trying to use Counterspell, and failing, still cost Endurance ( = DC/5)? I think it does, but wish to confirm.

    Did Toran Fall In 5050?

Dunno. I'm not sure there's any description of the extent of the devastation of Toran in the gamebooks (there is in Legends, but I'd really rather not go there... ). From context, I remember that Sommerlund - all of it, apparently - was 'overrun' by the Darklords, and the only city...

    Whatever happened to Grey Star?

That's what I mean. I'd like to see people stop paying them myself just to see sanity restored to the price list. $200-300 for a paperback less than 10 years old should be considered criminal. I thought the prices were so obscene that when I sold my own copies some months back, I...

    Whatever happened to Grey Star?

Oooh...that's cold... But so incredibly true. I really hope people aren't ACTUALLY paying those obscene prices. The only way to get the vendors to reduce their ridiculous prices is not pay 'em, I reckon.. Otherwise, all we're doing is encouragin' 'em...

    Just thought of something...<silly thread>

I think I knew who the inspiration for Jar Jar Binks was. Check it out: the Noodnics in Book 2 "Fire on the Water". Think about it..."Youze notta Dureneeze Man Man, eh?" Dever wrote that back in the mid 80s. Coincidence? I think it unlikely...Especially since the words 'Kai' and 'Jedi'...

    Barraka

ICQ / Chatroom. We have a set meeting day/time each week... The only way to go I reckon... I've been very pleased at how well this format is working. It moves slower than being 'at the table' together, but fast enough, I think. It helps that all of us can touchtype. And "notes" can be...
