Stopping for directions (Energy Mines & Stealth)

e-mines can target an area of space, and the stealthed ships get caught up in the wash.

What will happen to the original SST

Going from vs 1 competition rules this makes a huge difference when points differential is being considered, and particularly if to win big you have to kill 2000 points worth of enemy (scoring on points killed). Firing 2 nukes means a max of say 1400 points available for the enemy to get, so...

    Neutered Shadows?

Whilst playing with shadows and ISA I found that at raid (1 young one, 1 scout), the shadows would account for the ISA, targetting the ship that moved first, and eventually the ISA run out of initiative sinks. The ISA will deal out a lot of damage, but not quite enough in my experience...

What will happen to the original SST

Thanks. I must admit to being a fan of SST v1 and would simply like to see a smoothing out of some rough edges. Thanks for the amendments mentioned. I also think that if you fire a nuclear weapon, or any other ordnance, you ought to count it as a loss - otherwise in competitions there is less...

    Original Lone Wolf Novels

I believe there were 11 novels originally, and it appears from an entry on www.subgamers.com that they were or are available on CD - does anyone know the truth of this and whether they are still available ?? Is there any chance of these things being reprinted in English ?? regards Gregor

    Lumberingan and speed

Boresight - in response to the last mail about not liking the boresight rule - why not get a boresighting ship to have to nominate a target during the movement phase for its boresighted weapon - anywhere in the normal forward or aft arcs - if the ship later moves out of arc then tough - if it...

    Shadow Fighters - Just why

Suitable for their job - its more like they used to have a job millenia ago, but things have moved on and the Shadows now rely exclusively on their ships. The fighters are an anachronism from a past age, and are there as a red herring - hey, if you think you can achieve anything with them -...

    Hotz artwork space mats

Mat arrived today - not bad - not bad at all. Took 15 days. Did not receive an order confirmation.

Could B5 be played on a Hex Map?

The grid can be viewed as a tactical overlay - like what you get in most sci fi films.

Could B5 be played on a Hex Map?

Squares rather than hexes gives you your 45 degree turns, boresight can be worked out of you've passed through the position of an adrift ship or a ship that has already moved. Arcs and ranges are easily worked out as is movement (some rounding likely depending on square size)- the diagonal...

    Hotz artwork space mats

ah - I ordered a mat 2 weeks ago - had no reply to 2 emails - the web site suggests an order confirmation will be given. Perhaps I'll have to wait a bit longer then - pity - I was looking forward to getting it. I ordered one with squares, was thinking of converting ACTA to squares - easy to do...

    Fleet balancing

I had pretty much given up on ACTA before the new rules came out. They are heaps better than the previous edition. Fighters work much better now. There may be one or two gripes around the edges - most notably the GAIM as a tourney fleet, but I've thoroughly enjoyed trying various fleets out...

    Crewed Missle flight contact

I agree - best to have a number of fighters allowed in contact per level of the ship, else there is a huge discrepancy. The difference between 12 Gaim missiles attacking and half a dozen is huge when you take into account anti-fighter rolls.

    Are Gaim THAT good?

for the record the centaurii were: balvarin sulust 3 demos squadroned 1 maximus 1 corvan 1 morgath - forgotten :-( therefore unengaged - but given the way the rest of the fleet went up - I expect they are grateful
