    SST Skyhook assembly tips

Thanks guys :) So, not long after I posted the third update, the forums went belly-up and lost everything I wrote ... Luckily, I had already transcribed most of it into the condensed version I was putting on the site anyway. So, rather than just regurgitate it all here for the second...

    SST Skyhook assembly tips

Stage 5: Pre-shading, base colours and a little weathering. The weather has been a little warm here last week, so I decided to stick with the airbrush for now as it copes better when the weather is nice. The next stage was to add a coat of mixed Tamiya Light Grey and Flat White, again, with the...

    SST Skyhook assembly tips

Look forward to reading them :) Same here with GW. To be honest I stopped seeking any commissions after we finished on Armageddon and the Swordwind supplement, felt it was time to move on when Specialist Games got folded up. Still keep my hand in with the Forgeworld stuff (of course!), but...

    SST Skyhook assembly tips

Hey Agis! Long time no hear my friend! How are things? :D PS: Sorry for the delay updating the diary, I have completed the next stage of painting, just not had a chance to get a photo done for here and write up the notes. Coming this weekend though folks, I promise. Carl

    SST Skyhook assembly tips

Stage 3: Assembly and priming. I found no need to pin this model and used superglue throughout assembly (poly cement simply will not work on resin). Personally I use CA Zap and CA Superfine, but any superglue should work fine. I didn't find any particular assembly order was required, but I...

    SST WotS - constructive critique

No need to be so defensive, was just asking the question. In fact as I said, I was comparing the skyhook to a bunker with a pair of emplacements. A bunker would add another +100 points and can hold 10 (up to size 2) models. So a bunker plus two reliants would make 220 points vs the 125 of a...

    SST WotS - constructive critique

The Skyhook has 'four' barrels technically, not a single twin-50 (hence why the stats give it two twin-50s). A pair under the cockpit chin and singles either side. I would prefer to see the points cost raised if it is too unbalanced, than someone telling me the guns on my nice model don't exist...

    SST Skyhook assembly tips

A big thank you first of all must go to Matthew for making this happen and getting the Retrieval Boat produced on a limited run for all us 'MI' out there that have wanted to get our hands on them (I am sure I am not alone!) Well, my little trio of Fleet dropships arrived this morning in fine...

    What Have You Painted Today??

Konnoc, Funnily enough, I have two Hyperions primed and on my workbench this very weekend. I will make some notes as I do them and post the details here. To answer your question in short though, I follow exactly the same method as the Orestes; working from black up to ghost grey stage by stage...

Ahh, no. My fault I should have been clearer. Just to clarify so there is no misconceptions; the live dropship site (www.dropship.org.uk) is somewhat dated now having been online since 1998 and was primarily GW centric. I have been working for a while on removing it alltogether and replacing...

Thanks guys :) To Marco Raimeous: Thank you. Yes, this is something I tried with some of the league ships recently and decided to carry over to the Centauri when I did them. Its not as tricky as it sounds and is really just a cheap optical illusion. Adding a few extra lines and fake...

    What Have You Painted Today??

To Konnoc: Yes, all of the ships you mentioned started with a black primer base and were worked up. The process I follow varies slightly from model to model depending on what I am trying to achieve, but I will try to give you a couple of examples using two of them so you can see what I mean...

    What Have You Painted Today??

Don't blame you ... hideous model in my opinion! I have two of the fuglies to do at some stage. I am not exactly rushing to get them to the painting table to be honest. Carl

Not as such, no. But I did think it rather chilly this morning so wondered if perhaps Hell had frozen over. ... Glad to hear it hasn't

... So anyways, finding an ubundance of time on my hands today, I started photographing some of the ships ready for inclusion in the B5 gallery on the site once I get it finished. There will be the usual full guides included on painting and tips etc that those who know me from 'other projects'...
