I'm playing in Loz's group and must say as a 20+yr Gloranthaphile, it's the Real Deal. Some nice details and characters + situations that illustrate the depth of Glorantha. But it's also accessible to newbies; a great intro to the clash of 3 cultures in Dragon Pass/Maniria And lots of fun...

My RQ3 group has used a highly modified spirit combat rules set that has worked very well for us; could be adapted for MRQ easily enough (although would work better if one brings back Special Successes as <1/5 skill): http://www.geocities.com/rqsummaries/rules/spiritcombat.html

I agree, it has quickly become pretty esoteric, but there are nuggets of interest there now and then; worth skimming on a weekly basis.

This raises a good point, why not make a sticky on this forum for this question? Would probably attract more business (despite some anti-MRQ posts) and would be generally helpful.

Depending on your fondness for making house rules, I'd either wait for a 2nd edition to come out, or just go for it and do a major house rule revision, largely following comments above. Or avoid the rulebooks, Monsters book, magic books (debatable; I've avoided them but am slightly intrigued)...

I know, I thought about putting that mention in there; it's the exception to the rule (and that's what makes the Clanking City so cool).
