Treaty Battleship battle - KGVs vs NorCals

We'll probably houserule it to be a +1 AP or something instead. Cruiser clashes are fun, but having the big BBs duke it out helps to draw in new players.

Treaty Battleship battle - KGVs vs NorCals

Just concluded a battle of 3 KGVs vs 2 Norcals, plus assorted screen. The heavies mainly duelled each other while the screen tangled with each other. At the end of it, all players (screen and battle line commanders on both sides) felt that the Heavy rule is rather overpowered, or at least is...

Northampton seems rather overpriced. It has similar stats to a Pensacola but is the same cost as a Des Moines

September changes to Long Lance torpedoes

From what I know, the Japanese did have semi-auto loaders for their reloadable torpedo tubes. http://imgur.com/a/Imtt9oq They would be able to simply slide the torpedoes from the loading cell into the launcher. Frankly it seems a little crazy that Long Lances have a 17km effective range...

    800 points US vs Japanese

My group does exactly that. They only had one ready salvo for reload anyway.

    Zeros and Long Lances

I'd support that. It would give IJN torpedoes roughly double the effective range of other torpedoes, and the extreme range shots are represented by Fan Salvo

    Light Guns & Restricted

Restricted means it can only fire half dice into port and starboard arcs, not fore and aft. As an aggressive destroyer user this is a very important when trying to torp battleships! :) Atlanta should probably not have that rule at all, and just use ship specific light gun restrictions

The Mahans were pretty active early war as well.

AAR: 800 pts USN vs IJN

Perhaps more of a range of types for bad weather? Rain squalls in the Pacific atolls of Guadalcanal shouldn't be treated the same way as stormy weather on the high seas of the North Atlantic. Perhaps a bad weather - mild to represent rain and fog, and a bad weather - severe for strong waves and...

    June Playtest Pack

As a corollary, the reference to evading torpedoes in the "fan fire" entry in the IJN fleet list should be removed.

Thanks for looking into it. If that's what the numbers say then that's that.

    June Playtest Pack

Will give the rules a whirl over the weekend. Re: wakeless torpedoes, isn't this no longer used now that there is no opposed crew quality check to evade torpedoes?

    Welcome to the Open Playtest

Thanks, it's the only destroyer I've seen that doesn't have it, and it seems odd for them to be less maneuverable than US heavy cruisers which do have the rule.

    Radar

Radar seems to be a relatively complex rule that crosses several sections, so I thought it'd be worth its own thread. First, the Radar section in Advanced Rules pretty much just states the following: Roll to Detect a ship within 30". At Night or in Bad Weather, Detected ships are automatically...

    Welcome to the Open Playtest

Just noticed that Fletcher does not have Agile. Is this a mistake?
