    GM's Leading Questions

There isn't a spot skill is there? Do you house rule a spot skill or substitute recon? I've been doing the latter but it doesn't feel quite right. I'd also add to the list: Who is here/doing this/with you? (My players split up a lot)

    Dodge seems weak...

So you declare dodge before the attack roll?

    Dodge seems weak...

Does anyone use house rules for dodge that tie it to a skill or Dexterity? Sort of related, does anyone change the +effect to damage rule?

    Ships cost an Insane Amount

My players caught me by surprise on this one. I had a similar plan, wasn't even going to touch starships for a few months, do a bunch of planetside development. Character creation, they took focused on ship shares. First session they were going over starship combat rules. Didn't even have a...

    Ships cost an Insane Amount

The retirement pay for PCs might be relevant here - 10k/year for a 5 termer. I assume retirement pay is some fraction of work salary, but that comes to ~830cr/mo. Nobody's buying a ship with their retirement pay... I also thought it was a little odd that there isn't a scale for the retirement...

    Ships cost an Insane Amount

perhaps on a case by case basis... my players were aiming to get as many shares as possible. They amassed 48. I don't think that's normal but at 5% that would be outrageous... two ships! I don't know what's "normal" but it seems a more normal group would start with 10-20. 5% sounds a bit...

    Ships cost an Insane Amount

Interesting; I don't have any gurps books but I know someone who does. I'll take a look.

    Ships cost an Insane Amount

Well this is more or less what I've done. They have an easily manageable payment but still don't own the ship outright, so the mortgage company can eff with them if I want. Also, they all worked really hard to roll that many ship shares, so I have to make it look like they're worth something.

    Ships cost an Insane Amount

I looked at the 10 shares for taking an old and beat up ship... but the issue is mostly one of style: The player with the most shares has 20 something yacht shares and is playing a corporate exec. I don't want to shame the poor guy by having him show up at the country club in a beater :P After...

    Ships cost an Insane Amount

I know I've seen a thread about this somewhere, but can't find it. Basically... WOW. My players just bought a yacht. 50.5Mcr, they had scratched up 48 shares bringing it down to 26Mcr. That leaves them with a monthly payment of 145k/month after maintenance and life support. Their cash...

Atmospheric operation of small craft, incorrect assumptions

Also, I know I'm like fifty pages behind on this... but regarding the talk of a gravitic dog fight with a regular jet. There was all this talk about trying to get behind the fighter plane. I'd just have the gravitic vehicle spin around and shoot to rearwards it, while maintaining it's...

Atmospheric operation of small craft, incorrect assumptions

In what way does your original post need to be addressed? You state it needs a rewrite. Some people (not Someone, oi how confusing!) disagree. So the purpose of this thread, I say, is to generate conversation, thought, and reading material on the subject. So an interesting point is wholly...

    Muster out with Battle Dress?

Well... yes, if I were so inclined I could drop some battle dress in their laps, but I try not to be that nice. Now, if the battledress were prototypes prone to malfunction, or fitted with transponders to bring the navy down hard, or fitted for exactly the wrong race for any player to wear, I...
